Abstract

An exemplary umbrella includes a handle to receive a motor, a fan, and a battery. The motor drives the fan to rotate when powered by the battery. The umbrella further includes a hollow support bar coupled to a top of the handle, and the support bar defines a number of receiving holes. A switch can be received in the support bar to actuate the motor when pressed. Each of a number of hollow umbrella ribs includes one end inserted into a corresponding receiving hole. Each umbrella rib can communicate with the support bar, and defines a number of through holes. A canopy is coupled to lower portions of the support ribs. When the fan rotates as driven by the motor, air from the support bar flows to the support ribs, and to the canopy via the through holes.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . An umbrella comprising:
a handle configured to receive a motor, a fan, and a battery, the motor driving the fan to rotate when powered by the battery; a hollow support bar coupled to a top of the handle, and defining a plurality of receiving holes; a switch received in the support bar to actuate the motor when pressed; a plurality of hollow umbrella ribs, each of the plurality of umbrella ribs comprising one end inserted into a corresponding one of the plurality of receiving holes, each of the plurality of umbrella ribs capable of communicating with the support bar and defining a plurality of through holes along a lengthwise direction thereof; a canopy coupled to lower portions of the support ribs; wherein when the fan is driven by the motor to rotate, air flows through the support bar to the plurality of support ribs, and to the canopy via the plurality of through holes.

2 . The umbrella as described in claim 1 , wherein the umbrella handle comprises a bottom cap at one end thereof, and the motor, the fan, and the battery are secured to the bottom cap.

3 . The umbrella as described in claim 1 , wherein a jack is arranged in a side surface of the handle, and the battery is charged via the jack.

4 . The umbrella as described in claim 1 , wherein the support bar is integrally formed with the handle.

5 . The umbrella as described in claim 1 , wherein the support bar has a diameter less than a diameter of the handle.

6 . The umbrella as described in claim 1 , wherein the support bar defines an opening in a lateral surface, and the switch comprises a button received in the opening.

7 . The umbrella as described in claim 1 , wherein the plurality of through holes are defined at opposite sides of each of the plurality of support ribs along a lengthwise direction.

8 . The umbrella as described in claim 1 , further comprising a fixing rod protruding from the umbrella head, and received in the support bar, and the switch is coupled to the fixing rod.
