Computer system productivity monitoring
Abstract
Embodiments of the inventive subject matter include an apparatus comprising a processor and a computer readable storage medium having computer usable code. The computer usable code can be configured to gather information about a computer system. The computer usable code can be further configured to generate a profile of performance of the computer system based on the information about the computer system. The computer usable code can be further configured to generate a profile of usage of the computer system based on the information about the computer system. The computer usable code can be further configured to analyze the profile of performance of the computer system against the profile of usage of the computer system. The computer usable code can be further configured to determine that productivity of the computer system is inhibited based on the analysis of the profile of performance against the profile of usage.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 11 . (canceled)
12 . An apparatus comprising:
a processor, and a computer readable storage medium having computer usable program code embodied therewith, the computer usable program code executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
gather, from a plurality of sensors of a computer system, information about the computer system;
generate a profile of performance of the computer system based, at least in part, on the information about the computer system, wherein the profile of performance of the computer system indicates a state of components of the computer system during use;
generate a profile of usage of the computer system based, at least in part, on the information about the computer system, wherein the profile of usage of the computer system indicates current activities and usage of the computer system;
analyze the profile of performance of the computer system against the profile of usage of the computer system to determine if the state of the components of the computer system during use is acceptable for the current activities and usage of the computer system; and
determine that productivity of the computer system is inhibited based, at least in part, on the analysis of the profile of performance of the computer system against the profile of usage of the computer system.
13 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the code to generate the profile of performance of the computer system and the code to generate the profile of usage of the computer system includes code to generate the profile of performance of the computer system for a common time period and code to generate the profile of usage of the computer system for the common time period.
14 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the code to gather, from the plurality of sensors of the computer system, information about the computer system includes code to gather information about the computer system from a time period beginning at a predefined time before scheduled replacement of the computer system and ending when the computer system is decommissioned.
15 . The apparatus of claim 12 , the computer usable program code further comprising computer usable program code to:
determine that the computer system is suitable for another use.
16 . The apparatus of claim 15 , the computer usable program code to determine that the computer system is suitable for another use, further comprising computer usable program code to:
analyze the profile of performance of the computer system against a profile of usage of a second computer system; and determine that productivity of the computer system would not be inhibited for the profile of usage of the second computer system, based on the analysis of the profile of performance of the computer system against the profile of usage of the second computer system.
17 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of sensors of the computer system include at least one of a hard disk drive accelerometer, an internal temperature sensor, an external temperature sensor, a processor usage sensor, a disk access sensor, a peak resource usage sensor, a battery life sensor, a power source sensor, or a sensor of use of applications.
18 . A computer program product for monitoring productivity of a computer system, the computer program product comprising:
a computer readable storage medium having computer usable program code embodied therewith, the computer usable program code comprising computer usable program code to:
gather, from a plurality of sensors of the computer system, information about the computer system;
generate a profile of performance of the computer system based, at least in part, on the information about the computer system, wherein the profile of performance of the computer system indicates a state of components of the computer system during use;
generate a profile of usage of the computer system based, at least in part, on the information about the computer system, wherein the profile of usage of the computer system indicates current activities and usage of the computer system;
analyze the profile of performance of the computer system against the profile of usage of the computer system to determine if the state of the components of the computer system during use is acceptable for the current activities and usage of the computer system; and
determine that the productivity of the computer system is inhibited based, at least in part, on the analysis of the profile of performance of the computer system against the profile of usage of the computer system.
19 . The computer program product of claim 18 , the computer usable program code further configured to:
determine that the computer system is suitable for another use.
20 . The computer program product of claim 19 , the computer usable program code further configured to:
analyze the profile of performance of the computer system against a profile of usage of a second computer system; and determine that productivity of the computer system would not be inhibited for the profile of usage of the second computer system, based on the analysis of the profile of performance of the computer system against the profile of usage of the second computer system.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
