Abstract

Local shipping addresses in a first country are assigned to consumers having physical addresses in one or more different countries. In connection with an on-line shopping session at an e-commerce retailer, a request is obtained, from the e-commerce retailer, for a corresponding one of the local shipping addresses; the same is supplied to the e-commerce retailer in response to the request. Product information and an indication of a desired form of shipping from the e-commerce retailer to the local shipping address are obtained; as are an indication of a desired form of shipping from the local shipping address to a corresponding one of the physical addresses. An indication of an estimated fully landed cost associated with the on-line shopping session is dispatched.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of providing a secure on-line shopping experience at an e-commerce retailer located in a first country to a plurality of consumers in at least one country other than said first country, said consumers having physical addresses in said at least one country other than said first country, said method comprising the steps of:
 facilitating assigning to said plurality of consumers local shipping addresses in said first country;   obtaining, at an electronic wallet server, in connection with an on-line shopping session of a given one of said consumers at said e-commerce retailer, a request, from said e-commerce retailer, for a corresponding one of said local shipping addresses assigned to said given one of said consumers;   supplying said corresponding one of said local shipping addresses to said e-commerce retailer in response to said request therefor;   obtaining, at said electronic wallet server, in connection with said on-line shopping session of said given one of said consumers at said e-commerce retailer, product information and an indication of a desired form of shipping from said e-commerce retailer to said corresponding one of said local shipping addresses;   obtaining, at said electronic wallet server, in connection with said on-line shopping session of said given one of said consumers at said e-commerce retailer, an indication of a desired form of shipping from said corresponding one of said local shipping addresses to a corresponding one of said physical addresses in said at least one country other than said first country; and   dispatching, from said electronic wallet server, an indication, destined for said given one of said consumers, of an estimated fully landed cost associated with said on-line shopping session, said estimated fully landed cost being based at least upon said product information, said indication of said desired form of shipping from said e-commerce retailer to said corresponding one of said local shipping addresses, and said indication of said desired form of shipping from said corresponding one of said local shipping addresses to said corresponding one of said physical addresses in said at least one country other than said first country.
