Abstract
A magnetic system is provided that involves field emission structures having magnetic field sources, magnetically active intermediate layers, and magnetically inactive intermediate layers. The magnitudes, polarities, and positions of the magnetic field sources may be configured to have desirable correlation properties, which may be in accordance with a code. The correlation properties correspond to a desired spatial force function where spatial forces between field emission structures correspond to their relative alignment and separation distance.

a first magnetic field emission structure comprising a first plurality of magnetic field sources having a first polarity pattern including a first polarity and a second polarity, said second polarity being opposite said first polarity; and a first intermediate layer configured next to a first side of said first magnetic field emission structure corresponding to an interface boundary for interfacing said first magnetic field emission structure to a second magnetic field emission structure comprising a second plurality of magnetic field sources having a second polarity pattern, said second polarity pattern being complementary to said first polarity pattern, said first intermediate layer being one of a magnetically active intermediate layer or a magnetically inactive intermediate layer; and a second intermediate layer configured next to a second side of said first magnetic field emission structure that is opposite to said first side of said first magnetic field emission structure, said second intermediate layer being a magnetically active intermediate layer.
2 . The emission system of claim 1 , wherein said first intermediate layer is a magnetically active intermediate layer.
3 . The emission system of claim 1 , wherein said first intermediate layer comprises a magnetically saturable material.
4 . The magnetic system of claim 1 , wherein said first intermediate layer comprises iron.
5 . The emission system of claim 1 , wherein said first intermediate layer is a magnetically inactive intermediate layer.
6 . The emission system of claim 1 , wherein said first intermediate layer is air.
7 . The emission system of claim 1 , wherein said first intermediate layer comprises plastic.
8 . The emission system of claim 1 , wherein said second intermediate layer comprises a magnetically saturable material.
9 . The emission system of claim 1 , wherein said second intermediate layer comprises iron.
10 . The emission system of claim 1 , further comprising:
said second magnetic field emission structure, said second magnetic field structure having a first side corresponding to said interface boundary for interfacing with said first magnetic field emission structure, said second magnetic field structure having a second side that is opposite to said first side of said second magnetic field emission structure.
11 . The emission system of claim 10 , further comprising:
a third intermediate layer configured next to said second side of said second magnetic field emission structure, said third intermediate layer being a magnetically active intermediate layer.
12 . The emission system of claim 11 , wherein said third intermediate layer comprises a magnetically saturable material.
13 . The emission system of claim 11 , wherein said third intermediate layer comprises iron.
14 . The emission system of claim 11 , further comprising:
a fourth intermediate layer configured next to said first side of said second magnetic field emission structure, said fourth intermediate layer being one of a magnetically active intermediate layer or a magnetically inactive layer.
15 . The emission system of claim 11 , wherein said fourth intermediate layer is a magnetically active intermediate layer.
16 . The emission system of claim 11 , wherein said fourth intermediate layer comprises a magnetically saturable material.
17 . The emission system of claim 11 , wherein said fourth intermediate layer comprises iron.
18 . The emission system of claim 11 , wherein said fourth intermediate layer is a magnetically inactive intermediate layer.
19 . The emission system of claim 11 , wherein said fourth intermediate layer is air.
