Abstract

The invention provides a system for controlling flame to produce a music-reactive fire display. This system comprises a digital signal analyzer, electronically-controlled burner elements that allow variable control of fuel flow rate, an automatic ignition system, flame detection, and a means of communication between the signal analyzer and the burner elements.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A system for generating a fire display, the system comprising;
 a plurality of burners wherein a first burner stabilizes a first flame and a second burner stabilizes a second flame within a predetermined range of flame intensities;   a plurality of variable valves wherein the first burner receives fuel from a first variable valve and the second burner receives fuel from a second variable valve, wherein a modulator is in communication with the first variable valve and the second variable valve and the modulator is configured to independently vary a flow rate of the fuel type fuel through the first variable valve and the fuel through the second variable valve in response to an input signal from one or more signal analyzers;   an ignition system configured to ignite a flame on at least one of the plurality of burners; and   a plurality of flame detections systems wherein a first flame detection system detects a flame at a first burner and a second flame detection system detects a flame at a second burner, wherein the flame detection systems are configured to detect an ignition failure at the first burner or the second burner and close a valve to the first burner without closing a valve to the second burner when the ignition failure is detected at the first burner.   
     
     
         2 . A system for generating a fire display, the system comprising;
 a plurality of burners wherein a first burner burns a first fuel type or a second fuel type and a second burner burns a first fuel type or a second fuel type wherein the first burner stabilizes a first flame and a second burner stabilizes a second flame within a predetermined range of flame intensities;   a plurality of variable valves wherein the first burner receives fuel from a first variable valve and the second burner receives fuel from a second variable valve, wherein a modulator is in communication with the first variable valve and the second variable valve and the modulator is configured to independently vary a flow rate of the fuel type through the first variable valve and the fuel through the second variable valve in response to an input signal from one or more signal analyzers;   an ignition system configured to ignite a flame on at least one of the plurality of burners; and   a plurality of flame detections systems wherein a first flame detection system detects a flame at the first burner and a second flame detection system detects a flame at the second burner.   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the input signal from the one or more signal analyzers is a visualization signal representing perceptual aspects of a musical input in real-time. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the modulator independently varies the flow rate of the fuel through the first variable valve and the second variable valve to adjust the flame intensity in response to the input signal from one or more signal analyzers, wherein the input signal is derived from an audio signal such that the flame intensity corresponds to an analysis of the audio signal. 
     
     
         5 . They system of  claim 3 , wherein the one or more signal analyzers incorporate at least one routine that generates data based on instrumental notes in the musical input, and imparts the visualization signal with at least one aspect associated with the instrumental note information. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the first burner receives a first fuel type from a first variable valve and the second burner receives a second fuel type that is different from the first fuel type from a second variable valve. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the input signal from one or more signal analyzers is a visualization signal representing perceptual aspects of a musical input in real-time. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the modulator independently varies the flow rate of the first fuel type and the second fuel type through the first variable valve and the second variable valve to adjust the flame intensity in response to the input signal from one or more signal analyzers, wherein the input signal is derived from an audio signal such that the flame intensity corresponds to an analysis of the audio signal. 
     
     
         9 . They system of  claim 7 , wherein the one or more signal analyzers incorporate at least one routine that generates data based on instrumental notes in the musical input, and imparts the visualization signal with at least one aspect associated with the instrumental note information. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the first burner receives a first fuel type from a first variable valve and the second burner receives a second fuel type that is different from the first fuel type from a second variable valve.
