Abstract

A detection target space of an optical position detection device is divided into a detection target space due to a light emitting/receiving unit and a light emitting/receiving unit and a detection target space due to a light emitting/receiving unit and a light emitting/receiving unit. The light emitting/receiving units overlap each other in a Z-axis direction, and a light receiving element of the light emitting/receiving unit and a light receiving element of the light emitting/receiving unit are disposed so as to overlap each other in the Z-axis direction with light receiving surfaces facing to respective directions different from each other.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An optical position detection device comprising:
 a first light emitting and receiving unit that has a first light source and a first light receiving element;   a second light emitting and receiving unit that has a second light source and a second light receiving element;   a position detecting section that detects a position of a target object based on result of light reception of the first light receiving element and the second light receiving element,   the first light source emitting a first light along to a first direction and a second direction,   the second light source emitting a second light along to a first direction and a second direction,   the first light receiving element overlapping a first radiation center of the first light when seen from a third direction that is crossing to the first direction and the second direction,   the second light receiving element overlapping a second radiation center of the second light when seen from a third direction that is crossing to the first direction and the second direction.   
     
     
         2 . The optical position detection device according to claim  1 ,
 the first radiation center overlapping to the second radiation center when seen from the third direction.   
     
     
         3 . The optical position detection device according to  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a third light emitting and receiving unit that has a third light source and a third light receiving element;   a fourth light emitting and receiving unit that has a fourth light source and a fourth light receiving element,   the first light emitting and receiving unit, and the second light emitting and receiving unit being positioned in a direction crossing to a direction from the third light emitting and receiving unit to the fourth light emitting and receiving unit.   
     
     
         4 . A display system with an input function comprising the optical position detection device according to  claim 1 .
