Abstract

One embodiment of the gaming system disclosed herein enables a player to place at least one wager on at least one play of a wagering game, determines if a cash out request by the player occurs and in response to determining the occurrence of the cash out request by the player, if a credit meter balance associated with the player is at least equal to a designated value, enables the player to accept or reject an offer for the purchase of an entry into a gaming drawing at the designated value. If the player accepts the offer, the gaming system generates: (i) a gaming ticket confirming the entry into the gaming drawing, and (ii) a payout ticket.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A gaming system comprising:
at least one display device; at least one input device; at least one processor; and at least one memory device which stores a plurality of instructions, which when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with the at least one display device and the at least one input device to:
 (a) identify a player in association with a player tracking system,
 (b) upon receipt of a placement of a wager of a quantity of wagering units:
 (i) randomly determine a wagering game outcome,
(ii) display the randomly determined wagering game outcome,
(iii) determine any wagering game award associated with the randomly determined wagering game outcome, and
(iv) display any determined wagering game award associated with the randomly determined wagering game outcome,

 (c) upon receipt of an input to redeem a quantity of non-wagering units, generate, in association with the identified player, an entry into a gaming drawing.

3 . The gaming system of claim 2 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to display the randomly determined wagering game outcome on a first screen and display information associated with the generated entry into the gaming drawing on a second, different screen.

4 . The gaming system of claim 2 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to issue the generated entry into the gaming drawing to the identified player.

5 . The gaming system of claim 4 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to issue the generated entry into the gaming drawing by causing at least one output device to print the generated entry into the gaming drawing.

         6 . A gaming system server comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one memory device which stores a plurality of instructions, which when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
 (a) identify a player in association with a player tracking system,
 (b) upon receipt of a placement of a wager of a quantity of wagering units:
 (i) randomly determine a wagering game outcome,
(ii) cause at least one display device to display the randomly determined wagering game outcome,
(iii) determine any wagering game award associated with the randomly determined wagering game outcome, and
(iv) cause the at least one display device to display any determined wagering game award associated with the randomly determined wagering game outcome,

 (c) upon receipt of an input to redeem a quantity of non-wagering units, generate, in association with the identified player, an entry into a gaming drawing.

7 . The gaming system server of claim 6 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to cause the at least one display device to display the randomly determined wagering game outcome on a first screen and display information associated with the generated entry into the gaming drawing on a second, different screen.

8 . The gaming system server of claim 6 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to issue the generated entry into the gaming drawing to the identified player.

9 . The gaming system server of claim 8 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to issue the generated entry into the gaming drawing by causing at least one output device to print the generated entry into the gaming drawing.

10 . The gaming system server of claim 6 , which transmits and receives data over a data network.

11 . The gaming system server of claim 10 , wherein the data network is an internet.

12 . A method of operating a gaming system, said method comprising:
 (a) identifying a player in association with a player tracking system, (b) upon receipt of a placement of a wager of a quantity of wagering units:
 (i) causing at least one processor to randomly determine a wagering game outcome,
(ii) causing at least one display device to display the randomly determined wagering game outcome,
(iii) causing the at least one processor to determine any wagering game award associated with the randomly determined wagering game outcome, and
(iv) causing the at least one display device to display any determined wagering game award associated with the randomly determined wagering game outcome,
   (c) upon receipt of an input to redeem a quantity of non-wagering units, causing the at least one processor to generate, in association with the identified player, an entry into a gaming drawing.

13 . The method of claim 12 , which includes causing the at least one display device to display the randomly determined wagering game outcome on a first screen and display information associated with the generated entry into the gaming drawing on a second, different screen.

14 . The method of claim 12 , which includes causing the at least one processor to issue the generated entry into the gaming drawing to the identified player.

15 . The method of claim 14 , which includes causing the at least one processor to issue the generated entry into the gaming drawing by causing at least one output device to print the generated entry into the gaming drawing.

16 . The method of claim 12 , which is provided through a data network.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the data network is an internet.
