Abstract
A moisture activated image applied to a base substrate, wherein the substrate is integrated into an article of clothing. The moisture-activated invisible image is created by applying a hydrophobic material and a moisture absorbing material in a pattern. The image would be concealed when the substrate is dry. When wet, the moisture absorbing material changes in shade or color and the hydrophobic material repels the moisture, retaining the original color. The contrast between the wetted material and the repelled material displays the image. The hydrophobic material can be impregnated within the substrate, applied to an exposed surface, or applied to a contacting surface. The moisture-activated invisible stencil technology can be applied for simple aesthetic applications or advanced for applications to identify wet objects. Other applications can include warnings for wet roadways, pool decks, umbrellas, and the like.

1 . A moisture-activated image applied to an article of clothing comprising:
a base carrier substrate fabricated of a moisture absorbing material, wherein said base carrier substrate is integrated into the article of clothing; a colorless moisture-blocking agent applied onto said base carrier substrate, said moisture-blocking agent is a moisture-blocking film treatment comprising a pattern resembling a desired artwork, wherein when moisture is applied to said base carrier substrate, said moisture is absorbed by an exposed area of said base carrier substrate, causing a color change of said exposed area of said base carrier substrate and an area of said base carrier substrate comprising said colorless moisture-blocking agent repels said moisture creating a contrast, retaining an original color of said base carrier substrate, thus displaying said pattern resembling said desired artwork.
2 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 1 , wherein said colorless moisture-blocking agent partially impregnates said base carrier substrate.
3 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 1 , wherein said colorless moisture-blocking agent completely impregnates said base carrier substrate.
4 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 1 , wherein said colorless moisture-blocking agent is applied to a viewing material surface of said base carrier substrate.
5 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 4 , wherein said colorless moisture-blocking agent at least partially impregnates said base carrier substrate.
6 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 1 , wherein said colorless moisture-blocking agent is applied to a contacting material surface of said base carrier substrate.
7 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 6 , wherein said colorless moisture-blocking agent at least partially impregnates said base carrier substrate.
8 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 1 , wherein said desired artwork comprises a quantity of visible blocked images, wherein the quantity of blocked images correlates to calories burnt during an exercise routine.

A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 1 , said colorless moisture-blocking agent is applied in a manner generating a positive image of said artwork, wherein said blocking agent is applied as a background, outlining said artwork and repels moisture wherein said artwork remains exposed for absorption of moisture.
10 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 1 , said colorless moisture-blocking agent is applied in a manner generating a negative image of said artwork, wherein said blocking agent is applied as said artwork and repels moisture and a background remains exposed for absorption of moisture.
11 . An article of clothing comprising:
a base carrier substrate comprising a water absorbing material and a hydrophobic material, wherein said base carrier substrate is integrated into the article of clothing, said hydrophobic material being provided in a pattern resembling a desired artwork; wherein when the substrate is dry, the water absorbing material and the hydrophobic material conceal the image, wherein when moisture is applied to said base carrier substrate, said moisture is absorbed by said water absorbing material changing the color of said water absorbing material and water is repelled by said hydrophobic material, thus creating a contrast and displaying said pattern resembling said desired artwork.
12 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 11 , wherein said hydrophobic material partially impregnates said base carrier substrate.
13 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 11 , wherein said hydrophobic material completely impregnates said base carrier substrate.
14 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 11 , wherein said hydrophobic material is applied to a viewing material surface of said base carrier substrate.
15 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 14 , wherein said hydrophobic material at least partially impregnates said base carrier substrate.
16 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 11 , wherein said hydrophobic material is applied to a contacting material surface of said base carrier substrate.
17 . A moisture-activated image as recited in claim 16 , wherein said hydrophobic material at least partially impregnates said base carrier substrate.
