Abstract

Provided is a method and a GUI-based software application that acts as a wallet with network interconnectivity for enabling a user to securely and seamlessly conduct transactions with his or her online financial transaction program by means of a computer or a wireless handheld device without having to depend on an Internet browser.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A transaction information provisioning system, comprising:
 a wireless user device that is configured to render a graphical user interface (GUI) wallet for display on the wireless user device subsequent to an interaction with a first merchant checkout system that includes at least one funding source information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable funding source elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of funding sources and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of funding sources;   a communication engine that is located in the wireless user device and that is configured to:
 detect a selection of a first funding source element from the plurality of user-selectable funding source elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, send a first funding source information request over a network, wherein the first funding source information request is for first funding source information for a first funding source of the plurality of funding sources; 
 receive an encrypted first funding source information response through the network; 
 decrypt the encrypted first funding source information response to retrieve the first funding source information; and 
 automatically provide the first funding source information in the at least one funding source information field included on the first merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         2 . The transaction information provisioning system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 the wireless user device that is configured to render the GUI wallet for display on the wireless user device subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one funding source information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system;   the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device and that is configured to:
 detect a selection of a second funding source element from the plurality of user-selectable funding source elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first funding source element and, in response, send a second funding source information request over the network, wherein the second funding source information request is for second funding source information for a second funding source of the plurality of funding sources that is different than the first funding source; 
 receive an encrypted second funding source information response through the network; 
 decrypt the encrypted second funding source information response to retrieve the second funding source information; and 
 automatically provide the second funding source information in the at least one funding source information field included on the second merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         3 . The transaction information provisioning system of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of funding sources include a credit funding source and a debit funding source. 
     
     
         4 . The transaction information provisioning system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 the wireless user device that is configured to render the GUI wallet for display on the wireless user device subsequent to the interaction with the first merchant checkout system that includes at least one address information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable address elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of addresses and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of addresses;   the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device and that is configured to:
 detect a selection of a first address element from the plurality of user-selectable address elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, send a first address information request over the network, wherein the first address information request is for first address information for a first address of the plurality of addresses; 
 receive an encrypted first address information response through the network; 
 decrypt the encrypted first address information response to retrieve the first address information; and 
 automatically provide the first address information in the at least one address information field included on the first merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         5 . The transaction information provisioning system of  claim 4 , further comprising:
 the wireless user device that is configured to render the GUI wallet for display on the wireless user device subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one address information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system;   the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device and that is configured to:
 detect a selection of a second address element from the plurality of user-selectable address elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first address element and, in response, send a second address information request over the network, wherein the second address information request is for second address information for a second address of the plurality of addresses that is different than the first address; 
 receive an encrypted second address information response through the network; 
 decrypt the encrypted second address information response to retrieve the second address information; and 
 automatically provide the second address information in the at least one address information field included on the second merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         6 . The transaction information provisioning system of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 the wireless user device that is configured to render the GUI wallet for display on the wireless user device subsequent to an interaction with the first merchant checkout system that includes at least one discount information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable discount elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of discounts and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of discounts;   the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device and that is configured to:
 detect a selection of a first discount element from the plurality of user-selectable discount elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, send a first discount information request over the network, wherein the first discount information request is for first discount information for a first discount of the plurality of discounts; 
 receive an encrypted first discount information response through the network; 
 decrypt the encrypted first discount information response to retrieve the first discount information; and 
 automatically provide the first discount information in the at least one discount information field included on the first merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         7 . The transaction information provisioning system of  claim 7 , further comprising:
 the wireless user device that is configured to render the GUI wallet for display on the wireless user device subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one discount information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system;   the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device and that is configured to:
 detect a selection of a second discount element from the plurality of user-selectable discount elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first discount element and, in response, send a second discount information request over the network, wherein the second discount information request is for second discount information for a second discount of the plurality of discounts that is different than the first discount; 
 receive an encrypted second discount information response through the network; 
 decrypt the encrypted second discount information response to retrieve the second discount information; and 
 automatically provide the second discount information in the at least one discount information field included on the second merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         8 . A method for providing transaction information, comprising:
 rendering, by a wireless user device for display on a display device that is included on the wireless user device, a graphical user interface (GUI) wallet subsequent to an interaction with a first merchant checkout system that includes at least one funding source information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable funding source elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of funding sources and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of a plurality of funding sources;   detecting, by a communication engine that is located in the wireless user device, a selection of a first funding source element from the plurality of user-selectable funding source elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, sending a first funding source information request over a network, wherein the first funding source information request is for first funding source information for a first funding source of the plurality of funding sources;   receiving, by the communication engine, an encrypted first funding source information response through the network;   decrypting, by the communication engine, the encrypted first funding source information response to retrieve the first funding source information; and   automatically providing, by the communication engine, the first funding source information in the at least one funding source information field included on the first merchant checkout system.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 rendering, by the wireless user device for display on the display device that is included on the wireless user device, the GUI wallet subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one funding source information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system;   detecting, by the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device, a selection of a second funding source element from the plurality of user-selectable funding source elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first funding source element and, in response, sending a second funding source information request over the network, wherein the second funding source information request is for second funding source information for a second funding source of the plurality of funding sources that is different than the first funding source;   receiving, by the communication engine, an encrypted second funding source information response through the network;   decrypting, by the communication engine, the encrypted second funding source information response to retrieve the second funding source information; and   automatically providing, by the communication engine, the second funding source information in the at least one funding source information field included on the second merchant checkout system.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the plurality of funding sources include a credit funding source and a debit funding source. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 rendering, by the wireless user device for display on the display device that is included on the wireless user device, the GUI wallet subsequent to an interaction with the first merchant checkout system that includes at least one address information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable address elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of addresses and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of addresses;   detecting, by the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device, a selection of a first address element from the plurality of user-selectable address elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, sending a first address information request over the network, wherein the first address information request is for first address information for a first address of the plurality of addresses;   receiving, by the communication engine, an encrypted first address information response through the network;   decrypting, by the communication engine, the encrypted first address information response to retrieve the first address information; and   automatically providing, by the communication engine, the first address information in the at least one address information field included on the first merchant checkout system.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 rendering, by the wireless user device for display on the display device that is included on the wireless user device, the GUI wallet subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one address information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system;   detecting, by the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device, a selection of a second address element from the plurality of user-selectable address elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first address element and, in response, sending a second address information request over the network, wherein the second address information request is for second address information for a second address of the plurality of addresses that is different than the first address;   receiving, by the communication engine, an encrypted second address information response through the network;   decrypting, by the communication engine, the encrypted address source information response to retrieve the second address information; and   automatically providing, by the communication engine, the second address information in the at least one address information field included on the second merchant checkout system.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 rendering, by the wireless user device for display on the display device that is included on the wireless user device, the GUI wallet subsequent to an interaction with the first merchant checkout system that includes at least one discount information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable discount elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of discounts and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of discounts;   detecting, by the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device, a selection of a first discount element from the plurality of user-selectable discount elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, sending a first discount information request over the network, wherein the first discount information request is for first discount information for a first discount of the plurality of discounts;   receiving, by the communication engine, an encrypted first discount information response through the network;   decrypting, by the communication engine, the encrypted first discount information response to retrieve the first discount information; and   automatically providing, by the communication engine, the first discount information in the at least one discount information field included on the first merchant checkout system.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising:
 rendering, by the wireless user device for display on the display device that is included on the wireless user device, the GUI wallet subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one discount information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system;   detecting, by the communication engine that is located in the wireless user device, a selection of a second discount element from the plurality of user-selectable discount elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first discount element and, in response, sending a second discount information request over the network, wherein the second discount information request is for second discount information for a second discount of the plurality of discounts that is different than the first discount;   receiving, by the communication engine, an encrypted second discount information response through the network;   decrypting, by the communication engine, the encrypted discount source information response to retrieve the second discount information; and   automatically providing, by the communication engine, the second discount information in the at least one discount information field included on the second merchant checkout system.   
     
     
         15 . A non-transitory, machine-readable medium comprising a plurality of machine-readable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, are configured to cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising:
 rendering a graphical user interface (GUI) wallet on a display device subsequent to an interaction with a first merchant checkout system that includes at least one funding source information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable funding source elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of funding sources and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of funding sources; and   providing a communication engine that:
 detects a selection of a first funding source element from the plurality of user-selectable funding source elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, sends a first funding source information request over a network, wherein the first funding source information request is for first funding source information for a first funding source of the plurality of funding sources; 
 receives an encrypted first funding source information response through the network; 
 decrypts the encrypted first funding source information response to retrieve the first funding source information; and 
 automatically provides the first funding source information in the at least one funding source information field included on the first merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         16 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are configured to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:
 rendering the GUI wallet on the display device subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one funding source information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system; and   providing the communication engine that:
 detects a selection of a second funding source element from the plurality of user-selectable funding source elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first funding source element and, in response, sends a second funding source information request over the network, wherein the second funding source information request is for second funding source information for a second funding source of the plurality of funding sources that is different than the first funding source; 
 receives an encrypted second funding source information response through the network; 
 decrypts the encrypted second funding source information response to retrieve the second funding source information; and 
 automatically provides the second funding source information in the at least one funding source information field included on the second merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         17 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are configured to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:
 rendering the GUI wallet on the display device subsequent to the interaction with the first merchant checkout system that includes at least one address information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable address elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of addresses and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of addresses; and   providing the communication engine that:
 detects a selection of a first address element from the plurality of user-selectable address elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, sends a first address information request over the network, wherein the first address information request is for first address information for a first address of the plurality of addresses; 
 receives an encrypted first address information response through the network; 
 decrypts the encrypted first address information response to retrieve the first address information; and 
 automatically provides the first address information in the at least one address information field included on the first merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         18 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 17 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are configured to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:
 rendering the GUI wallet on the display device subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one address information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system; and   providing the communication engine that:
 detects a selection of a second address element from the plurality of user-selectable address elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first address element and, in response, sends a second address information request over the network, wherein the second address information request is for second address information for a second address of the plurality of addresses that is different than the first address; 
 receives an encrypted second address information response through the network; 
 decrypts the encrypted second address information response to retrieve the second address information; and 
 automatically provides the second address information in the at least one address information field included on the second merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         19 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 15 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are configured to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:
 rendering the GUI wallet on the display device subsequent to the interaction with the first merchant checkout system that includes at least one discount information field, wherein the GUI wallet includes a plurality of user-selectable discount elements that are each associated with a different one of a plurality of discounts and that are each selectable by a user to designate a respective one of the plurality of discounts; and   providing the communication engine that:
 detects a selection of a first discount element from the plurality of user-selectable discount elements included on the GUI wallet and, in response, sends a first discount information request over the network, wherein the first discount information request is for first discount information for a first discount of the plurality of discounts; 
 receives an encrypted first discount information response through the network; 
 decrypts the encrypted first discount information response to retrieve the first discount information; and 
 automatically provides the first discount information in the at least one discount information field included on the first merchant checkout system. 
   
     
     
         20 . The machine-readable medium of  claim 19 , wherein the plurality of machine-readable instructions are configured to cause the one or more processors to perform the method further comprising:
 rendering the GUI wallet on the display device subsequent to an interaction with a second merchant checkout system that includes at least one discount information field and that is different than the first merchant checkout system; and   providing the communication engine that:
 detects a selection of a second discount element from the plurality of user-selectable discount elements included on the GUI wallet that is different from the first discount element and, in response, sends a second discount information request over the network, wherein the second discount information request is for second discount information for a second discount of the plurality of discounts that is different than the first discount; 
 receives an encrypted second discount information response through the network; 
 decrypts the encrypted second discount information response to retrieve the second discount information; and 
 automatically provides the second discount information in the at least one discount information field included on the second merchant checkout system.
