Claims

Abstract

An image processing apparatus includes: a fixing device that has a fast heating mode and a heat storage mode; and a selection section that selects any one of a case where execution of a job indicating an image forming process of a predetermined batch throughput is instructed, and when the fixing device returns to a normal power state from a power saving state, the fixing mode in which an image forming process is early completed is selected on the basis of a total throughput of the job to perform the image forming process, and a case where during the total throughput of the job is not determined or in a case where the job corresponds to a plurality of sets, the fast heating mode is selected as an initial operation for at least the first set to perform the image forming process.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An image forming apparatus comprising:
 a fixing device including:
 a fixing member that fixes toner on a recording sheet through heat of electromagnetic induction; 
 a pressing member that presses the recording sheet between the fixing member and the pressing member; 
 a magnetic field generating member that generates alternating magnetic field intersecting with the fixing member; and 
 a magnetic path forming member that is opposed to the magnetic field generating member with interposing the fixing member between the magnetic field generating member and the magnetic path forming member, and forms a magnetic path of the alternating magnetic field, wherein 
   the fixing device has a first mode in which the fixing device is heated in advance in a state that the fixing member is in non-contact with the magnetic path forming member and a second mode in which the fixing device is heated in advance in a state the fixing member is in contact with the magnetic path forming member, and   one of the first mode and the second mode is selectable in accordance with the number of image processing sheets of a job.   
     
     
         2 . The image forming apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the magnetic path forming member is heated by the electromagnetic induction.   
     
     
         3 . An image forming apparatus comprising:
 a fixing device that has a first mode and a second mode as a fixing mode for fixing toner on a recording sheet set after heating a fixing member in advance, the fixing member fixing the toner on the recording sheet,   wherein a starting time from an image processing instruction of a job to a start of an image processing operation of the job for an initial recording sheet in the first mode is relatively shorter than that of the second mode,   a completion time from the image processing instruction of the job to a completion of image processing of the job in the second mode is shorter than that of the first mode when the completion time is more than a certain time, and   the image forming apparatus further comprises a selecting unit in response to the image processing instruction of the image processing of the job, selects one of the first mode and the second mode which has the completion time shorter than that of the other of the first mode and the second mode.
