Abstract
Described is a device for establishing desired proportions of water and coffee beans. The device includes a fluid vessel and a laterally attached coffee solid vessel. The fluid vessel has vertical height and a fluid volume capacity, with the fluid vessel being formed to hold water therein. The coffee solid vessel has vertical height and an interior that defines a coffee solid volume capacity, with the coffee solid vessel being formed to hold a solid coffee product therein. Importantly, each of the fluid vessel and coffee solid vessel are formed such that a desired solid-to-fluid ratio exists between the fluid volume capacity and the coffee solid volume capacity when laterally attached with one another, with the desired solid-to-fluid ratio being maintained along the vertical height of each of the vessels (which can be readily verified through a visual inspection of the horizontal equality of contents).

1 . A measuring device for establishing desired proportions of water and coffee beans, comprising:
a fluid vessel, the fluid vessel having vertical height and a fluid volume capacity, with the fluid vessel being formed to hold water therein; and a coffee solid vessel laterally attached with the fluid vessel, the coffee solid vessel having vertical height and an interior that defines a coffee solid volume capacity, with the coffee solid vessel being formed to hold a solid coffee product therein; wherein each of the fluid vessel and coffee solid vessel are formed such that a desired solid-to-fluid ratio exists between the fluid volume capacity and the coffee solid volume capacity when Laterally attached with one another, with the desired solid-to-fluid ratio being maintained along the vertical height of each of the vessels, whereby a user can fill the fluid vessel with water to any point along the vertical height and fill the coffee solid vessel with solid coffee product such that the solid coffee product is approximately level with the water, and in doing so, establish desired proportions of water and solid coffee product.
2 . The device as set forth in claim 1 , wherein coffee solid volume capacity is approximately one sixth the fluid volume capacity, such that a ratio of one to six exists between the coffee solid volume capacity and fluid volume capacity at any and all points along the vertical height,
3 . The device as set forth in claim 2 , wherein the coffee solid vessel includes a drain formal therethrough to allow fluid in the coffee solid vessel to drain therefrom.

The device as set forth in claim 3 , wherein the drain includes a series of perforations formed through the coffee solid vessel, the series of perforations are formed at upward slanting angles such that the perforations pass upward from the interior of the coffee solid vessel to an exterior of the coffee solid vessel, whereby due to the upward slanting angles, coffee solid positioned within the coffee solid vessel is maintained therein, while fluid is allowed to escape through the perforations.
5 . The device as set forth in claim 4 , wherein the coffee solid vessel is detachably attached with the fluid vessel.

The device as set forth in claim 5 , wherein a handle extends from the fluid vessel, the handle having an upper platform and a lower platform, and wherein each of the upper platform and lower platform have a hole formed therethrough, the holes formed to accommodate the coffee solid vessel therein, thereby allowing a user to position the coffee solid vessel within the holes and attach the coffee solid vessel with the fluid vessel.
7 . The device as set forth in claim 6 , wherein each of the coffee solid vessel and fluid vessel are formed in a frustrum shape.

The device as set forth in claim 5 , wherein the fluid vessel is generally cylindrically shaped, with a pie-shape cut-out along its vertical length, and wherein the coffee solid vessel is formed to have a wedge-shaped cross section that allows the coffee solid vessel to matingly engage with the fluid vessel by fitting within the pie-shape cut-out of the fluid vessel.
9 . The device as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the coffee solid vessel includes a drain formed therethrough to allow fluid in the coffee solid vessel to drain therefrom.

The device as set forth in claim 9 , wherein the drain includes a series of perforations firmed through the coffee solid vessel, the series of perforations are formed at upward slanting angles such that the perforations pass upward from the interior of the coffee solid vessel to an exterior of the coffee solid vessel, whereby due to the upward slanting angles, coffee solid positioned within the coffee solid vessel is maintained therein, while fluid is allowed to escape through the perforations.
11 . The device as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the coffee solid vessel is detachably attached with the fluid vessel.

The device set forth claim 1 , wherein a handle extends from the fluid vessel, the handle having an upper platform and a lower platform, and wherein each of the upper platform and lower platform have a hole formed therethrough, the holes formed to accommodate the coffee solid vessel therein, thereby allowing a user to position the coffee solid vessel within the holes and attach the coffee solid vessel with the fluid vessel.

The device as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the fluid vessel is generally cylindrically shaped, with a pie-shape cut-out along its vertical length, and wherein the coffee solid vessel is formed to have a wedge-shaped cross section that allows the coffee solid vessel to matingly engage with the fluid vessel by fitting within the pie-shape cut-out of the fluid vessel.
14 . The device as set forth in claim 1 , wherein each of the coffee solid vessel and fluid vessel are formed in a frustrum shape.
15 . A method for establishing desired proportions of water and coffee beans. comprising acts of:
adding water to a fluid vessel, the fluid vessel having vertical height and a fluid volume capacity; adding coffee beans to a coffee solid vessel that is laterally attached with the fluid vessel, the coffee solid vessel having vertical height and an interior that defines a coffee solid volume capacity, wherein each of the fluid vessel and coffee solid vessel are formed such that a desired solid-to-fluid ratio exists between the fluid volume capacity and the coffee solid volume capacity when laterally attached with one another, with the desired solid-to-fluid ratio being maintained along the vertical height of each of the vessels, whereby by adding water to the fluid vessel to any point along the vertical height and adding coffee beans to the coffee solid vessel that the solid coffee product is approximately level with the water, the user is establishing desired proportions of water and solid coffee product.
16 . A device to ascertain the relative strength of a coffee beverage to be prepared from the two ingredients, liquid water and solid roasted coffee beans, necessary for the preparation of such anticipated coffee brew, comprising:
two transparent vessels scaled in volumetric proportion to one another, a fluid vessel and a coffee solid vessel; wherein the fluid vessel is larger than the coffee solid vessel and is formed to accommodate the volume of water to be turned into the coffee beverage, the fluid vessel having vertical height and a fluid volume capacity, with the fluid vessel being formed to hold water therein; wherein the coffee solid vessel is formed to accommodate the solid coffee beans in a roasted state, the coffee solid vessel having a vertical height and an interior that defines a coffee solid volume capacity with the coffee solid vessel being formed to hold a solid coffee product therein, so that when the two transparent vessels are placed proximate to one another, the fluid vessel and the coffee solid vessel are formed such that a specific solid-to-fluid, and fluid to solid ratio exists between the fluid volume capacity and the coffee solid volume capacity when viewed as proximate to one another, so that when placed on a level surface, with the specified solid to fluid and fluid to solid ratio being maintained along the vertical height of each of the vessels, holding a consistent ratio—proportioned preparation as to match a desired coffee strength yielded by the amount of dissolved coffee solids resulting from the proportion of six parts liquid water for every one part solid bean volume, as determined when the water selected to be brewed as a coffee beverage is placed in the larger vessel and the solid beans in the second solid containment vessel such that when both volume levels are seen to be approximately the same, the desired coffee strength is achieved; and wherein when the height of such solid coffee beans is placed in the smaller coffee solid containment vessel at a higher level when compared visually to the water level in the larger fluid vessel, the resulting brewed beverage will contain more dissolved coffee solids than the desired standard ratio and therefore will produce a beverage stronger than such desired strength, and conversely, should the water level visibly be higher than the level of the solid coffee beans in the coffee bean containment vessel, the resulting coffee beverage brewed will contain a measurably lower level of dissolved coffee solids than the aforementioned desired amount and have a flavor described as weaker than the desired strength.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
