Abstract

Using an oxidative process it is made possible to apply an adhesive material to silicone. The process is controlled, allowing selective oxidative treatment to a silicone structure enabling treatment to the inside of a tubular structure.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A silicone urisheath having an outer surface and an inner surface, the silicone urisheath comprising:
 an annular inner band of oxidized silicone forming the inner surface of the urisheath; an outermost annular band of non-oxidized silicone that forms the outer surface of the silicone urisheath; and a pressure sensitive skin adhesive that is disposed on the annular inner band of oxidized silicone.

         2 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 1 , wherein the annular inner band is formed by an oxidative process selected from the group consisting of oxidative-heat treatment, UV light, E-beam, gamma-irradiation, and chemical oxidative treatment.

         3 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 1 , wherein the annular inner band is formed by an oxidative-heat treatment selected from the group consisting of corona treatment, plasma treatment, and flame treatment.

         4 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 1 , wherein the pressure sensitive skin adhesive is a polar adhesive material.

         5 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 4 , wherein the polar adhesive material is based on acrylics, polyether, polyvinylether, polyurethane, or polyvinylpyrolidone.

         6 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 1 , wherein the pressure sensitive skin adhesive is an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive.

         7 . A urisheath comprising:
 a body formed of silicone material, the body having a cylindrical shape defining an innermost surface, an outermost surface, wall a thickness between the innermost and outermost surfaces, a first end, a second end and a length between the first and second ends, the body including:
 an annular inner band of oxidized silicone material defined along the length at the innermost surface that extends from the innermost surface partially into the wall thickness of the body;
 an annular outer band of non-oxidized silicone material defined along the length at the outermost surface; and
   a pressure sensitive skin adhesive that is disposed on the annular inner band of oxidized silicone.

         8 . The urisheath of claim 7 , wherein the annular inner band of oxidized silicone material is defined along an entire length of the body such that the annular inner band extends along all of the length of the body between the first end and the second end.

         9 . The urisheath of claim 7 , wherein the annular inner band of oxidized silicone material is defined along a partial length of the body such that the annular inner band extends along a portion of the length of the body between the first end and the second end.

         10 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 7 , wherein the annular inner band is formed according to an oxidative process including at least one of oxidative-heat treatment, UV light, E-beam, gamma-irradiation, and chemical oxidative treatment.

         11 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 7 , wherein the annular inner band is formed according to an oxidative-heat treatment including at least one of corona treatment, plasma treatment, and flame treatment.

         12 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 7 , wherein the pressure sensitive skin adhesive includes a polar adhesive material.

         13 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 7 , wherein the pressure sensitive skin adhesive is formed of a material having a base polymer including at least one of an acrylic, a polyether, a polyvinylether, a polyurethane, and a polyvinylpyrolidone base polymer.

         14 . The silicone urisheath according to claim 7 , wherein the pressure sensitive skin adhesive includes an acrylic based pressure sensitive adhesive.

         15 . A urisheath comprising:
 a body formed of silicone material, the body having a cylindrical shape defining an innermost surface, an outermost surface, wall a thickness between the innermost and outermost surfaces, a first end, a second end and a length between the first and second ends, the body including:
 an annular inner band of oxidized silicone material that has been treated with an oxidative process to form an oxidized band of silicone material into the innermost surface that extends from the innermost surface partially into the wall thickness of the body;
