Abstract
An information processing apparatus includes a touching detection unit configured to detect a touching operation and a touch-up operation for the display unit, a time counting unit configured to count a time period of continuous touching on a specific area of the display unit, and a control unit configured, when a touch-up operation from the specific area is detected and a counted time period of continuous touching has not reached a predetermined time period, to execute a function assigned to the specific area while when the touch-up operation from the specific area is detected and the counted time period of continuous touching has reached the predetermined time period, not to execute the function assigned to the specific area in relation only to the detected touch-up operation.

1 . An information processing apparatus comprising:
a touching detection unit configured to detect a touching operation for touching a display unit; a time counting unit configured to count a time period of continuous touching in a specific area of the display unit; a touch-up detection unit configured to detect a touch-up operation, which is an operation for discontinuing touching the display unit; and a control unit configured to perform control, in a case where the information processing apparatus is in a specific mode, when a touch-up operation is detected by the touch-up detection unit in a state in which a touching operation for touching the specific area has been detected by the touching detection unit, and if a time period of continuous touching counted by the time counting unit has not reached a predetermined time period, to execute a function assigned to the specific area while in a case where the information processing apparatus is in the specific mode, when the touch-up operation is detected by the touch-up detection unit in a state in which the touching operation for touching the specific area has been detected by the touching detection unit, and if the time period of continuous touching counted by the time counting unit has reached the predetermined time period, not to execute the function assigned to the specific area in response to the detected touch-up operation, and in a case where the information processing apparatus is not in the specific mode, when the touch-up operation is detected by the touch-up detection unit in a state in which the touching operation for touching the specific area has been detected by the touching detection unit, and even if the time period of continuous touching counted by the time counting unit has reached the predetermined time period, to execute the function assigned to the specific area.
2 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
an imaging unit; and a mode shifting unit configured to shift an operation mode of the information processing apparatus to one mode among a plurality of modes at least including an image shooting mode and an image reproduction mode, wherein the specific mode is the image shooting mode.
3 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein, in a case where the information processing apparatus is in the specific mode, the function assigned to the specific area is a function related to imaging by an imaging unit included in the information processing apparatus.

The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit is configured, when a touch-up operation is detected by the touch-up detection unit in a state in which a touching operation for touching an area other than the specific area has been detected by the touching detection unit, and even if a time period of continuous touching in the area other than the specific area has reached the predetermined time period, to execute a function assigned to the area other than the specific area.
5 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 4 , further comprising:
a shutter operation member configured to receive a user instruction for imaging by an imaging unit, wherein the specific area is an area of a button icon displayed on the display unit at a position that is closer to a vertex of the display unit that is closest to the shutter operation member than a position of the area other than the specific area.
6 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a shutter operation member configured to receive a user instruction for imaging by an imaging unit, wherein the specific area is an area of a button icon displayed on the display unit at a position that is closest to a vertex of the display unit that is closest to the shutter operation member.
7 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
an attitude detection unit configured to detect an attitude of the information processing apparatus, wherein a different position on the display unit is set as the specific area according to an attitude detected by the attitude detection unit.
8 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a second time counting unit configured to count a time period of continuous touching in a second area of the display unit which is different from the specific area, wherein the control unit is configured to perform control, when a touch-up operation is detected by the touch-up detection unit in a state in which a touching operation for touching the second area has been detected by the touching detection unit, and if the time period of continuous touching counted by the second time counting unit has not reached a second time period which is longer than the predetermined time period, to execute a function assigned to the second area while when the touch-up operation is detected by the touch-up detection unit in a state in which the touching operation for touching the second area has been detected by the touching detection unit, and if the time period of continuous touching counted by the second time counting unit has reached the second time period, not to execute the function assigned to the second area in response to the detected touch-up operation.
9 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 8 , further comprising:
a shutter operation member configured to receive a user instruction for imaging by an imaging unit, wherein the specific area is an area of a button icon displayed on the display unit at a position that is closer to a vertex of the display unit that is closest to the shutter operation member than a position of the second area.

The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a display control unit configured, if the time period of continuous touching counted by the time counting unit has reached the predetermined time period, to perform control to display a first warning on the display unit.
11 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the first warning indicates that the specific area has been touched.
12 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 10 , further comprising:
a multi-point touching determination unit configured to determine whether an area other than the specific area has been touched simultaneously with a touching operation for touching the specific area, wherein the display control unit is further configured, if the multi-point touching determination unit determines that the area other than the specific area has been touched simultaneously with the touching operation for touching the specific area in a state in which the first warning has been displayed on the display unit, to perform control to display a second warning message on the display unit.
13 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 12 , the second warning indicates that an operation instructed by the touching operation cannot be executed on the display unit.
14 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 12 ,
wherein the touching detection unit is capable of detecting a touching operation for touching a single touch position on the display unit only, and wherein the multi-point touching determination unit is configured, if a touching operation for touching a position within a predetermined range on the display unit is detected without the touch-up detection unit detecting a touch-up operation in a state in which the touching operation for touching the specific area has been detected by the touching detection unit, to determine that a position included in the area other than the specific area has been touched simultaneously with the touching operation for touching the specific area.
15 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 14 ,
wherein the second warming indicates that a function assigned to a position in point symmetry with a position touched through the detected touching operation for touching the specific area around the touched position within the predetermined range cannot be executed.
16 . A method for controlling an information processing apparatus, the method comprising:
detecting a touching operation for touching a display unit; counting a time period of continuous touching in a specific area of the display unit; detecting a touch-up operation, which is an operation for discontinuing touching the display unit; and performing control, in a case where the information processing apparatus is in a specific mode, when a touch-up operation is detected in a state in which a touching operation for touching the specific area has been detected, and if a counted time period of continuous touching has not reached a predetermined time period, to execute a function assigned to the specific area while in a case where the information processing apparatus is in the specific mode, when the touch-up operation is detected in a state in which the touching operation for touching in the specific area has been detected, and if the counted time period of continuous touching has reached the predetermined time period, not to execute the function assigned to the specific area in response to the detected touch-up operation, and in a case where the information processing apparatus is not in the specific mode, when the touch-up operation is detected in a state in which the touching operation for touching in the specific area has been detected, and even if the counted time period of continuous touching has reached the predetermined time period, to execute the function assigned to the specific area.
17 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program that causes a computer to execute a method for controlling an information processing apparatus, the method comprising:
detecting a touching operation for touching a display unit; counting a time period of continuous touching in a specific area of the display unit; detecting a touch-up operation, which is an operation for discontinuing touching the display unit; and performing control, in a case where the information processing apparatus is in a specific mode, when a touch-up operation is detected in a state in which a touching operation for touching the specific area has been detected, and if a counted time period of continuous touching has not reached a predetermined time period, to execute a function assigned to the specific area while in a case where the information processing apparatus is in the specific mode, when the touch-up operation is detected in a state in which the touching operation for touching in the specific area has been detected, and if the counted time period of continuous touching has reached the predetermined time period, not to execute the function assigned to the specific area in response to the detected touch-up operation, and in a case where the information processing apparatus is not in the specific mode, when the touch-up operation is detected in a state in which the touching operation for touching in the specific area has been detected, and even if the counted time period of continuous touching has reached the predetermined time period, to execute the function assigned to the specific area.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
