Abstract
A system and method for providing a universal electronic wallet is provided. In one embodiment portable electronic devices are deployed having a universal wallet application and a wallet data file associated with the application. The wallet data file is configured to maintain a plurality of different types of wallet artifacts in the form of data records, according to unique uniform resource identifiers respective to each artifact type.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 13 . (canceled)
14 . A method for an electronic wallet of a portable electronic device, the method comprising:
maintaining the electronic wallet in non-volatile storage at the portable electronic device and executing the electronic wallet with a processor of the portable electronic device; the portable electronic device sending a request to at least one server that is configured to generate data records according to a plurality of scheme definitions, each scheme definition associated with a different type of electronic wallet artifact, the request for requesting sending of a particular data record of the plurality of data records from the server to the portable electronic device; receiving the particular data record at the portable electronic device in response to the request; storing the particular data record in the non-volatile storage at the portable electronic device, the particular data record being stored in association with the electronic wallet; and in response to a user selection received at the portable electronic device, displaying a particular electronic wallet artifact as a graphical representation of the particular data record within the electronic wallet on a display of the portable electronic device.
15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein at least one of the scheme definitions corresponds to an electronic wallet artifact that is a pass or credential to permit access by the user to a location or event.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein displaying the particular electronic wallet artifact further comprises displaying a bar code.
17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein displaying the particular electronic wallet artifact further comprises displaying a number of the pass or credential.
18 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the particular data record stores an expiry date for the pass or credential.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein displaying the particular electronic wallet artifact further comprises displaying the expiry date.
20 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising sending an administration request from the portable electronic device to the at least one server for updating one or more data records stored in the non-volatile storage at the portable electronic device.
21 . The method of claim 14 , wherein the request is further configured to cause the server to generate the particular data record.
22 . A portable electronic device comprising:
a network interface; non-volatile storage for storing an electronic wallet; a user interface including a display; and a processor connected to the network interface, non-volatile storage, and user interface, the processor configured to:
send a request via the network interface to at least one server that is configured to generate data records according to a plurality of scheme definitions, each scheme definition associated with a different type of electronic wallet artifact, the request for requesting sending of a particular data record of the plurality of data records from the server to the portable electronic device;
receive the particular data record via the network interface in response to the request;
store the particular data record in the non-volatile storage, the particular data record being stored in association with the electronic wallet; and
detect a user selection at the user interface and, in response to the user selection, display at the user interface a particular electronic wallet artifact as a graphical representation of the particular data record within the electronic wallet.
23 . The device of claim 22 , wherein at least one of the scheme definitions corresponds to an electronic wallet artifact that is a pass or credential to permit access by the user to a location or event.
24 . The device of claim 23 , wherein the processor is configured to display a bar code at the at the user interface when displaying the particular electronic wallet artifact.
25 . The device of claim 23 , wherein the processor is configured to display a number of the pass or credential at the at the user interface when displaying the particular electronic wallet artifact.
26 . The device of claim 23 , wherein the particular data record stores an expiry date for the pass or credential.
27 . The device of claim 26 , wherein the processor is configured to display the expiry date at the at the user interface when displaying the particular electronic wallet artifact.
28 . The device of claim 22 , wherein the processor is further configured to send an administration request via the network interface to the at least one server for updating one or more data records stored in the non-volatile storage.
29 . The device of claim 22 , wherein the request is further configured to cause the server to generate the particular data record.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
