Abstract

A turkey decoy for receiving and supporting a real or artificial turkey tail fan is disclosed herein. The turkey decoy can be configured in a stake-supported configuration where the turkey tail fan is supported on a stake and remotely movable by a hunter operating the turkey decoy. Alternatively, the turkey decoy can be configured in a clamp-supported configuration where the turkey tail fan is supported on a clamp that a hunter can hold or attach to a variety of structures in the hunting environment.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A turkey decoy clamp assembly for supporting a real or artificial turkey tail fan, said turkey decoy clamp assembly comprising:
a clamp configured for attachment to a variety of structures; and a fan attachment assembly coupled to said clamp and configured to receive and hold said turkey tail fan.

. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein said clamp comprises two opposing attachment surfaces configured to receive said variety of structures therebetween.

. The assembly of claim 2 , wherein said opposing attachment surfaces are rounded for secure fastening to rounded structures.

. The assembly of claim 2 , wherein said clamp comprises an externally threaded member that, when rotated, varies the distance between said opposing attachment surfaces.

. The assembly of claim 2 wherein said clamp comprises a generally C-shaped portion presenting said attachment surfaces.

. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein said fan attachment assembly comprises a connector member for connecting said fan attachment assembly to said clamp.

. The assembly of claim 6 , wherein said clamp comprises an attachment aperture for receiving and holding said connector member of said fan attachment assembly.

. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein said clamp is a threaded C-clamp.

. The assembly of claim 2 , wherein said opposing attachment surfaces are substantially flat.

. The assembly of claim 2 , wherein said clamp comprises a spring configured to bias said attachment surfaces towards one another.

. The assembly of claim 2 , wherein said clamp comprises a pair of handles that, when shifted relative to one another, vary the distance between said opposing attachment surfaces.

. The assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a connecting member coupled to and extending between said fan attachment assembly and said clamp.

. The assembly of claim 12 , further comprising a fastener coupling said connecting member to said clamp.

. The assembly of claim 13 , wherein said connecting member comprises a plurality of spaced-apart attachment apertures each configured to receive said fastener.

. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein said clamp is a spring-biased hand clamp.

. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein said fan attachment assembly is configure to receive said artificial turkey tail fan.

. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein said turkey decoy clamp assembly is a fan-only system that does not include any component or components depicting the body of a turkey.

. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein said fan attachment assembly comprises an externally threaded rod, an internally threaded nut, a first compression member, and a second compression member, wherein said first and second compression members are spaced from one another along the length of said threaded rod, wherein said first and second compression members present respective opposing first and second compression surfaces, wherein the distance between said first and second compression surfaces is varied by rotating the nut relative to the threaded rod or the threaded rod relative to the nut.

. The assembly of claim 18 , wherein said nut is threadably received on said threaded rod in a manner such that tightening rotation of said nut on said threaded rod causes the distance between said first and second compression surfaces to be reduced, further comprising an extension member having a distal end coupled to said attachment assembly and a proximal end coupled to said clamp, wherein said distal end of said extension member is couple to said threaded rod.

. The assembly of claim 18 , wherein said nut is fixed to said clamp and said threaded rod is threadably received in said nut in a manner such that tightening rotation of said threaded rod in said nut causes the distance between said first and second compression surfaces to be reduced.
