Abstract

Commercial size of spending wallet (“SoSW”) is the total business spend of a business including cash but excluding bartered items. Commercial share of wallet (“SoW”) is the portion of the spending wallet that is captured by a particular financial company. Commercial SoW is a modeling approach that utilizes various data sources to provide outputs that describe a company's spend capacity. These outputs can be appended to data profiles of customers and prospects and can be utilized to support decisions involving prospecting, new account evaluation, and customer management across the lifecycle. Company financial statements are utilized to identify and calculate total business spend of a company that could be transacted using a commercial credit card. A spend-like regression model may then be developed to estimate annual commercial SoSW value for customers and prospects within a credit network.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 ordering, by an ordering computer-based system, an estimation of a commercial size of spending wallet of a company; and   receiving, by the ordering computer-based system, the estimation of the commercial size of spending wallet of the company,   wherein the estimation is created by estimating the commercial size of spending wallet of the company based on spending of the company and a model of industry spending patterns, wherein the commercial size of spending wallet comprises the company's cost of goods sold plus the cardable operating expenses of the company.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the estimation is further created by modeling, by the estimating computer-based system, industry spending patterns using individual corporate data and aggregate corporate data to create the model of industry spending patterns. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the estimation is further created by obtaining financial statement data from a database of commercially-underwritten businesses. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the estimation is further created by obtaining financial statement data from an Internal Revenue Service database. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the estimation is further created by estimating a share of wallet for a particular financial institution. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the estimating is further based on at least one of annual sales amount, number of employees, and highest credit amount. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the estimating is further based on a dollar amount of satisfactory financial experiences over a time period. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the estimating is further based on a financial stress score percentile. 
     
     
         9 . A method comprising:
 receiving, by a receiving computer-based system, an acceptance of an offering for sale of an estimation of a commercial size of spending wallet of a company; and   ordering, by the receiving computer-based system, the estimation of the commercial size of spending wallet of the company, in response to the acceptance,   wherein the estimation is created by estimating the commercial size of spending wallet of the company based on spending of the company and a model of industry spending patterns, wherein the commercial size of spending wallet comprises the company's cost of goods sold plus the cardable operating expenses of the company.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the estimation is further created by modeling, by the estimating computer-based system, industry spending patterns using individual corporate data and aggregate corporate data to create the model of industry spending patterns. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the estimation is further created by obtaining financial statement data from a database of commercially-underwritten businesses. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the estimation is further created by obtaining financial statement data from an Internal Revenue Service database. 
     
     
         13 . A system comprising:
 an ordering processor;   a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor, the tangible, non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations;   an ordering module in communication with the processor and configured to order an estimation of a commercial size of spending wallet of a company; and   a receiving module in communication with the processor and configured to receive the estimation of the commercial size of spending wallet of the company,   wherein the estimation is created by estimating the commercial size of spending wallet of the company based on spending of the company and a model of industry spending patterns, wherein the commercial size of spending wallet comprises the company's cost of goods sold plus the cardable operating expenses of the company.   
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the estimation is further created by modeling, by the estimating computer-based system, industry spending patterns using individual corporate data and aggregate corporate data to create the model of industry spending patterns.
