Abstract

A system for displaying advertising content includes a client computer having a display device, a processor, a network interface, and a graphical user interface including a cursor. The client computer is arranged to receive advertising content data from a remote computer via the network interface. The advertising content data includes cursor display data for displaying a promotional image. The processor is coupled to the display device and modifies the cursor in accordance with the promotional image in response to a predetermined event. The promotional image may include elements such as animation, a satellite image, a sprite image, promotional text, and a combination thereof.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . A system for associating sounds with a cursor, comprising:
a user computer operable to receive sound data from a remote data source, the sound data for association with a cursor; at least one cursor related data instruction including the sound data received from the remote data source; and a cursor code module, stored in a non-transitory computer readable medium, executable to process the at least one cursor related data instruction on the user computer to modify cursor associated sounds with the sound data based on content information shown on a display of the user computer.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the user computer is operable to transmit cursor data files to the remote data source.

23 . The system of claim 22 , wherein the cursor data files further comprise cursor position data.

24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the cursor code module is executable to process the at last one cursor related data instruction to modify sound related attributes of the user computer, including sounds associated with an operating system of the user computer.

25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the cursor code module is executable to process the at last one cursor related data instruction to modify sound related attributes of the user computer, including a user application.

26 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the user application includes a word processor.

27 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the user application includes a spreadsheet.

28 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the user application includes a web browser.

29 . The system of claim 25 , wherein the user application includes a game.

30 . A method for associating sounds with a cursor comprising the steps of:
at a user computer, receiving sound data and at least one cursor related data instruction from a remote data source, the sound data for association with a cursor; and executing a cursor code module on the user computer to process the at least one cursor related data instruction to modify cursor associated sounds based on content information shown on a display of the user computer.

31 . The method of claim 30 , further including transmitting cursor data files from the user computer to the remote data source.

32 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the cursor data files further comprise cursor position data.

33 . The method of claim 30 , wherein executing the cursor code module further includes modifying sound related attributes of the user computer, including sounds associated with an operating system of the user computer, according to the at least one cursor related data instruction.

34 . The method of claim 30 , wherein executing the cursor code module further includes modifying sound related attributes of the user computer, including a user application, according to the at least one cursor related data instruction.

35 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the user application includes a word processor.

36 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the user application includes a spreadsheet.

37 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the user application includes a web browser.

38 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the user application includes a game.
