Abstract
A system and method for visually establishing a trading strategy are described. According to one method, a trader can position a first icon corresponding to a first order and a second icon corresponding to a second order in relation to a first value axis displayed on a graphical interface. A graphical means can also be used in relation to the icons to show that the icons correspond to a trading strategy. The graphical means can include lines, numbers, or any other user-configurable graphical representation illustrating order precedence, for example.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . A method for establishing a trading strategy for a tradable object comprising:
providing, via a client device, a plurality of selectable icons including at least one icon for creating a trading strategy for submitting multiple orders, where each icon of the plurality of selectable icons graphically represents an order type and includes at least one pre-populated parameter for the order type graphically represented by the icon; selecting, via a client device, a plurality of subsets of the plurality of selectable icons, where each subset of selectable icons is selected based on types of orders receivable at a corresponding electronic exchange; receiving, via the client device, a plurality of user commands, each user command of the plurality of user commands selecting an icon from the plurality of subsets of the plurality of selectable icons and moving the selected icon to a corresponding location of a value axis for a tradable object, where each location represents a price of a corresponding order for the tradable object, and where at least one of the selected icons includes the at least one icon for creating a trading strategy for submitting multiple orders; displaying, via the client device, an order icon at each corresponding location for each corresponding order; and displaying a graphical indicator relative to each order icon, the graphical indicator graphically representing the trading strategy including each corresponding order.
3 . The method of claim 2 where each subset of selectable icons is different.
4 . The method of claim 2 comprising a plurality of tradable objects and a plurality of value axes, each value axis corresponding to one of the tradable objects of the plurality of tradable objects.
5 . The method of claim 4 where each selected icon is moved to a corresponding location of one of the plurality of value axes.
6 . The method of claim 4 where each value axis comprises a price derivative axis.
7 . The method of claim 2 where the corresponding orders comprise a first order and a second order, where the second order is submitted in response to detecting at least a partial fill of the first order.
8 . The method of claim 2 comprising a plurality of different electronic exchanges.
9 . The method of claim 2 where the plurality of subsets of the plurality of selectable icons comprises a first subset of selectable icons and a second subset of selectable icons, the first subset of selectable icons being selected in response to a connection to a first electronic exchange and the second subset of selectable icons being selected in response to a connection to a second electronic exchange.
10 . The method of claim 9 where the first subset of selectable icons is different than the second subset of icons.
11 . The method of claim 9 where the first electronic exchange is different than the second electronic exchange.
12 . The method of claim 2 where each order icon graphically represents a state of the corresponding.
13 . The method of claim 2 where the graphic indicator represents an execution precedence between each corresponding order.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
