Abstract

Disclosed are various embodiments for facilitating expedited registration of sellers in an electronic marketplace. For example, whether a user is eligible for an expedited seller registration procedure in an electronic marketplace is determined by analyzing one or more credibility factors relating to a historical profile of the user. The expedited seller registration procedure omits one or more identity verification tasks as compared to a normal seller registration procedure. If the user is eligible, the user is invited to register as a seller in the electronic marketplace using the expedited seller registration procedure.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
Therefore, the following is claimed:

         1 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
identifying, by at least one computing device, a user in an electronic marketplace who has purchased a designated item from a catalog of items; determining, by the at least one computing device, whether the user is eligible for an expedited seller registration procedure in the electronic marketplace, the expedited seller registration procedure omitting at least one identity verification task as compared to a normal seller registration procedure; and sending, to the user, a notification that invites the user to offer the designated item in the electronic marketplace using the expedited seller registration procedure when the user is determined to be eligible for the expedited seller registration procedure.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining, by the at least one computing device, a demand for the designated item in the electronic marketplace; and wherein the user is invited to offer the designated item in the electronic marketplace based at least in part on the demand.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
selecting, by the at least one computing device, the designated item based at least in part on an item category; and wherein the user is invited to offer the designated item in the electronic marketplace based at least in part on the item category.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the user is eligible for the expedited seller registration procedure further comprises analyzing, by the at least one computing device, at least one credibility factor relating to a historical profile of the user, the historical profile incorporating activity other than a purchase of the designated item.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein, when the user is determined to be ineligible for the expedited seller registration procedure, a notification that invites the user to offer the designated item in the electronic marketplace using the normal seller registration procedure is sent to the user.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one identity verification task comprises a verification that the user is capable of receiving a communication via a telephone number supplied by the user.

7 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying a program executable by a computing device, wherein, when executed, the program causes the computing device to perform operations comprising:
determining whether a user is eligible for an expedited seller registration procedure in an electronic marketplace by analyzing at least one credibility factor relating to a historical profile of the user, the expedited seller registration procedure omitting at least one identity verification task as compared to a normal seller registration procedure; and encoding a network page including an invitation for the user to offer an item in the electronic marketplace using the expedited seller registration procedure in response to determining that the user is eligible.

8 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the at least one identity verification task comprises a verification that the user is capable of receiving a communication via a telephone number supplied by the user.

9 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the at least one credibility factor is based at least in part on purchase activity unrelated to a purchase of the item by the user.

10 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the at least one credibility factor includes a length of time the user has been registered with the electronic marketplace as a buyer.

11 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the at least one credibility factor includes an item return history associated with the user.

12 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the at least one credibility factor includes a complaint history associated with the user.

         13 . A system, comprising:
a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions; and a processor configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to at least:
determine whether a user is eligible for an expedited seller registration procedure in an electronic marketplace by analyzing at least one credibility factor relating to a historical profile of the user, the expedited seller registration procedure omitting at least one identity verification task as compared to a normal seller registration procedure; and
invite the user to register as a seller in the electronic marketplace using the expedited seller registration procedure in response to determining that the user is eligible.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the processor is further configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to at least invite the user to register as the seller in the electronic marketplace using the normal seller registration procedure that includes the at least one identity verification task in response to determining that the user is ineligible for the expedited seller registration procedure.

15 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the at least one identity verification tasks includes verifying a telephone number of the user.

16 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the at least one credibility factor includes a purchase frequency associated with the user.

17 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the at least one credibility factor includes a frequency of order shipment to a configured address of the user.

18 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the at least one credibility factor includes whether a valid payment instrument is associated with the user.

19 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the expedited seller registration procedure omits at least one data collection task that is included in the normal seller registration procedure.

20 . The system of claim 13 , wherein the expedited seller registration procedure facilitates specification of a business name that differs from a personal name of the user.
