Sofa Kit

Abstract

This sofa invention accomplishes the objective of flat small packing by means of having a cross supporting bar in the base be removable, so that the sofa arms can be placed inside of the sofa base during storage and shipping. The invention accomplishes the objective of easy assembly by having the disassembled crossbar be easily placed hack into its position using hardware included with the kit. A cross connector can then be installed easily across the cross bars with the included hardware. The sofa back can then be attached to the seat frame by two metal brackets that lock into a slot. The arms can be attached to the sides using the hardware and then their zipped up to hide the hardware connections. Supporting legs are screwed onto the bottom by hand and the sofa is complete.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A sofa kit having a back, a base, a plurality of arms, a support leg, feet, and connection means:
 said back having a lowest surface;   said base having a plurality of cross braces, a top, an inside, a bottom, and a cross connector;   said cross braces being detachably attachable to said base on said inside using said connection means;   said cross connector being detachably attachable to said cross braces using said connection means;   said support leg being detachably attachable to said bottom using said connection means;   said feet being detachably attachable to said bottom using said connection means;   said arms being detachably attachable to said base using said connection means;   said arms being detachably attachable to said back using said connection means;   said lowest surface being attachable to said top using said connection means.   
     
     
         2 . The sofa kit of  claim 1  having a covering enveloping said arms, said covering having an opening that can be closed by a zipper. 
     
     
         3 . The sofa kit of  claim 1  having slots on said lowest surface and flanges on said top and a locking mechanism holding said back on said base when said flanges are inserted in said slots. 
     
     
         4 . The sofa kit of  claim 3  further comprising first sides on said back, second sides on said base, and third sides on said arms; wherein said first sides, said second sides, and said third sides have holes and said holes will admit threaded rods which cooperate with said connection means in the construction of said sofa kit. 
     
     
         5 . The sofa kit of  claim 4  having a covering enveloping said arms, said covering having an opening that can be closed by a zipper. 
     
     
         6 . A method of storing a sofa kit comprising the steps of
 providing a back, a base, a plurality of arms, a support leg, feet, a box, and connection means; said back having a lowest surface; said base having a plurality of cross braces, a top, an inside, a bottom, and a cross connector; said cross braces being detachably attachable to said base on said inside using said connection means; said cross connector being detachably attachable to said cross braces using said connection means; said support leg being detachably attachable to said bottom using said connection means; said feet being detachably attachable to said bottom using said connection means; said arms being detachably attachable to said base using said connection means; said arms being detachably attachable to said back using said connection means; said lowest surface being attachable to said top using connection means;   detaching at least one of said cross connectors from said inside;   placing at least said arms in said inside; and   placing said back, said base, said plurality of arms, said support leg, said feet, and said connection means inside said box.   
     
     
         7 . The method of storing a sofa kit of  claim 6  in which said support leg, said feet, said connection means, said cross braces, and said cross connector are placed in said inside; and said back is placed substantially parallel with said base prior to placing them inside said box. 
     
     
         8 . A sofa kit having a back, a base, a plurality of arms, a support leg, feet, and connection means;
 said back having a lowest surface;   said base having a plurality of cross braces, a top, an inside, a bottom, and a cross connector;   said cross braces being detachably attachable to said base on said inside using said connection means;   said cross connector being detachably attachable to said cross braces using said connection means;   said support leg being detachably attachable to said bottom using said connection means;   said feet being detachably attachable to said bottom using said connection means;   said arms being detachably attachable to said base using said connection means;   said arms being detachably attachable to said back using said connection means;   slots on said lowest surface and flanges on said top; and   a locking mechanism holding said back on said as when said flanges are inserted in said slots.   
     
     
         9 . The sofa kit of  claim 7  in which said connection means are substantially rod shaped and are threaded. 
     
     
         10 . The sofa kit of  claim 8  further comprising first sides on said back, second sides on said base, and third sides on said arms; wherein said first sides, said second sides, and said third sides have holes and said holes will admit said connection means in the construction of said sofa kit. 
     
     
         11 . The sofa kit of  claim 9  having a covering enveloping said arms, said covering having an opening that can be closed by a zipper.
