Abstract
A modular convertible tactical sling system for a firearm or other item. The sling system includes a primary strap, a hub mount attachment, and at least two secondary straps. The configuration of the primary strap, the hub mount attachment, and the at least two secondary straps can provide for either a single point attachment to a firearm or a two point attachment to a firearm.

1 . A modular convertible tactical sling system comprising:
a primary strap; a hub mount attachment; and at least two secondary straps for releasable attachment to the primary strap at proximal ends thereof, and for releasable attachment at distal ends thereof to a selected one of the hub mount attachment or a sling connector on an object to which the sling is to be connected; whereby interchangeable selection of the secondary straps enables interchangeable use of the sling system with different sling connectors, and whereby interchangeable selection of the attachment configuration of the distal ends of the secondary straps enables interchangeable use between a single-point and a two-point sling configuration.
2 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , wherein the primary strap comprises a strap member extending from a first end to a second end, the first end comprising a buckle portion having an insertion part and the second end comprising a buckle portion having a receiving part.
3 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 2 , wherein the strap member of the primary strap comprises a length adjustment mechanism for providing adjustment to the length of the primary strap.
4 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 2 , wherein the insertion part of the first end comprises an insertion appendage having catches formed therewith.
5 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 2 , wherein the receiving part of the second end comprises an insertion opening having latches to removably engage the insertion part.
6 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , wherein the hub mount attachment comprises a central hub portion and a first and second insertion part extending therefrom.
7 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 6 , wherein the central hub portion comprises a flush cup mount and at least one ring.
8 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 6 , wherein the insertion parts extending from the central hub portion each comprise an insertion appendage having catches formed therewith.
9 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , wherein the secondary strap is a clip-type secondary strap.
10 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 9 , wherein the clip-type secondary strap comprises a strap member extending from a first end to a second end, the first end comprising a buckle portion having a receiving part that is configured for removable engagement with the insertion part, and the second end comprising a clip connector.
11 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 10 , wherein the clip connector comprises a hook and a spring biased arm that can selectively actuate to permit access to the hook.
12 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 10 , wherein the clip connector comprises an HK hook.
13 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , wherein the secondary strap comprises a swivel-type secondary strap.
14 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 13 , wherein the swivel-type secondary strap comprises a strap member extending from a first end to a second end, the first end comprising a buckle portion having a receiving part that is configured for removable engagement with the insertion part, and the second end comprising a push button swivel mount.
15 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 14 , wherein the push button swivel mount comprises a pin having ball bearings therein that are biased outwardly, and a push button for selectively releasing the outward biasing of the ball bearings.
16 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 14 , wherein the push button swivel mount is a heavy duty push button swivel mount.
17 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , wherein the object to which the sling system is connected comprises a firearm.
18 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 17 , wherein the single point attachment configuration of the sling system comprises the primary strap, the hub mount attachment, and a first and a second secondary strap, the second end of the primary strap removably engaged with the first arm extension of the hub mount attachment, the first end of the primary strap removably engaged with the first end of the first secondary strap, the second end of the first secondary strap removably engaged to the central hub portion of the hub mount attachment, the first end of the second secondary strap removably engaged with the second arm extension of the hub mount attachment, and the second end of the second secondary strap removably engaged with a mounting attachment of the firearm.
19 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 18 , wherein the first and second secondary straps comprise clip-type secondary straps, swivel-type secondary straps, and/or a combination thereof.
20 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 18 , wherein the mounting attachment of the firearm to removably engage the second end of the secondary strap can be configured for clip-type secondary straps or swivel-type secondary straps.
21 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 20 , wherein the mounting attachment comprises a ring mount.
22 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 20 , wherein the mounting attachment comprises a flush cup mount.
23 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 17 , wherein the firearm comprises a tactical firearm.
24 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 17 , wherein the two point attachment configuration of the sling system to the firearm comprises the primary strap, the hub mount attachment, and a first and a second secondary strap, the second end of the primary strap removably engaged with the first arm extension of the hub mount attachment, the first end of the primary strap removably engaged with the first end of the first secondary strap, the first end of the second secondary strap removably engaged with the second arm extension of the hub mount attachment, the second end of the first secondary strap removably engaged with a first mounting attachment of the firearm, and the second end of the second secondary strap removably engaged with a second mounting attachment of the firearm.
25 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 24 , wherein the first and second secondary straps comprise clip-type secondary straps, swivel-type secondary straps, and/or a combination thereof.
26 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 24 , wherein the first and second mounting attachments of the firearm to removably engage the second end of the secondary strap can be configured for clip-type secondary straps or swivel-type secondary straps.
27 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 26 , wherein the first and second mounting attachments comprise ring mounts, flush cup mounts, or a combination thereof.
28 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , wherein the strap member of the primary strap is formed from nylon webbing having a width of about 1.5 inch.
29 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , wherein the strap member of the secondary strap is formed from nylon webbing having a width of about 1 inch.
30 . The modular convertible tactical sling system of claim 1 , at least partially comprising 7075 aluminum connector portions.
31 . A rifle sling system comprising:
a primary strap; the primary strap comprising a strap member extending from a first end to a second end, the first end comprising a buckle portion having a insertion part and the second end comprising a buckle potion having a receiving part; a hub mount attachment; the hub mount attachment comprising a central hub portion and at least two insertion parts extending therefrom, the central hub portion comprising a flush cup mount, a first ring and a second ring, and the insertion parts each comprising an insertion appendage; and at least two secondary straps, the secondary straps comprising a strap member extending from a first end to a second end, the first end comprising a buckle portion having a receiving part and the second end comprising an engagement connector.
32 . The rifle sling system of claim 31 , wherein the engagement connectors comprise clip-type connectors and/or swivel-type connectors.
33 . The rifle sling system of claim 31 , wherein the sling system can be configured to provide for a single point attachment to a firearm.
34 . The rifle sling system of claim 31 , wherein the sling system can be configured to provide for a two point attachment to a firearm.
35 . A sling system for a firearm comprising a primary strap, a hub mount attachment, and at least two secondary straps, the primary strap comprising a strap member having a first end engagement member and a second end engagement member, the mount attachment including a central hub portion and arm extensions extending from the central hub portion, the central hub portion having an engagement portion and the arm extensions having engagement portions, and the at least two secondary straps comprising a strap member having a first end engagement member and a second end engagement member.
36 . The sling system for a firearm of claim 35 , wherein the configuration of the engagement members of the primary strap, the hub mount attachment, and the at least two secondary straps can provide for either a single point attachment to a firearm or a two point attachment to a firearm.
37 . A method of conversion of a sling system for a carried object between a single-point sling carrying configuration and a two-point sling carrying configuration, the method comprising attaching a first end of a primary strap to a hub mount, attaching a first secondary strap between the hub mount and the carried object, and interchangeably attaching a second end of the primary strap to either the carried object or to the hub mount.
38 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the carried object is a firearm.
39 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the second end of the primary strap is attached to the carried object or to the hub mount via a second secondary strap.
