Abstract

The present invention relates to cell wall degradative systems, in particular to systems containing enzymes that bind to and/or depolymerize cellulose. These systems have a number of applications.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 6 . (canceled)

7 . A chimeric gene comprising at least one polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence of at least one of the peptides listed in FIGS. 4-10 ; wherein the gene is operably linked to regulatory sequences that allow expression of the amino acid sequence in a host cell.

8 . The chimeric gene of claim 7 contained in a host cell.

9 . The chimeric gene of claim 8 , wherein the host cell is an Escherichia coli cell.

         10 . A vector comprising the chimeric gene of claim 7 .

11 . A vector comprising at least one polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence of at least one of the peptides listed in FIGS. 4-10 .

         12 . (canceled)

13 . A host cell comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 7 .

14 . The host cell of claim 13 , wherein the cell is an Escherichia coli cell.

         15 - 31 . (canceled)
