Abstract

A method of moving a large, flat planar object with a pair of quick-disconnect wide handles attached to an elongated handle rod, to enable a person to quickly lift the large, flat planar object, such as moving plywood panels or table-tops, doors, or other large flat items. The quick-disconnect feature uses a quick disconnect clamp with the addition of an elongated handle and attachment of a rod attachment to it; whereby one such clamp is used at each rod end attaching the handle to the large, flat planar object being carried.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
A complete listing of the claims and their current status is as follows:

         1 . A method of carrying large, flat planar objects, comprising the steps of:
 providing a pair of quick disconnect clamps having a ratcheting mechanism which reduces hand force to achieve clamping pressure and a quick-release lever, attaching a respective quick disconnect clamp and a second quick disconnect clamp to an elongated handle rod at respective opposite ends thereof; engaging and grasping a flat surface panel with each of said quick disconnect clamps, whereby said elongated handle rod provides an elongated gripping surface for lifting said large, flat surface panel by said elongated handle rod and said pair of oppositely positioned quick disconnect clamps, and moving said flat planar object with said elongated handle rod and said pair of quick connect/disconnect clamps.

         2 . The method of claim 1 comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, further comprising the step of alternately expanding or contracting a predetermined length of said handle rod by turning a twist-lock sleeve at its center to facilitate length adjustment.

         3 . The method of claim 1 comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, further comprising the step of
 providing each said quick disconnect clamp with quick release levers and releasing respective clamping pads from said flat panel surface upon manual squeezing thereof.

         4 . The method of  claim 3  comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, further comprising the step of providing a height adjustment means, including a rotatable angled handle rod extension member attachable to said elongated handle rod;
 said rotatable handle rod extension member being rotatable up or down; and
 providing each said clamp with a further elongated clamp handle with an end having a fixed ratchet member matching with a matching rotatable ratchet member, attached to each end of said rotatable angled rod extension member handle, and locking said rotatable angled rod extension in any position of rotation via a locking knob.

         5 . The method of claim 1 comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, wherein said flat surface panel is a building construction panel graspable vertically or horizontally or any angle therebetween by said auxiliary removable attachment handle.

         6 . The method of claim 1 comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, wherein said large, flat planar object is a plywood panel.

         7 . The method of claim 1 comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, wherein said large, flat planar object is a drywall panel.

         8 . The method of claim 1 comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, wherein said large, flat planar object is a door.

         9 . The method of claim 1 comprising the steps of carrying large, flat planar objects, wherein said large, flat planar object is a table-top.

         10 . A method of carrying large, flat planar objects, comprising the steps of:
 providing a pair of quick connect/disconnect clamps at opposite ends of an elongated handle rod; connecting each said quick-disconnect handle with a rod attachment at a respective distal end thereof; grasping said large, flat planar object with respective clamping pads attached to each respective quick connect/disconnect clamp; adjusting the height of said handle rod with a means for height adjustment of said handle rod, by providing each respective end of said handle rod with a rotatable angled rod extensions rotatable up or down; engaging a matching rotatable ratchet member attached to each respective opposite end of each said handle rod extension; and said rotatable locking ratchet member in any position of rotation via a locking knob; adjusting a length of said elongated handle rod by providing said handle rod in two parts attached with a twist-lock sleeve at its center to facilitate length adjustment; and, moving said large, flat planar object with said elongated handle rod and said pair of quick connect/disconnect handles.
