Multi-function medical room system

Abstract

A multi-function medical room having components, such as a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, a cleaning system, and a mobile dental unit, that may be configured in component sets housed within the room enclosure. Each component set may support the unique practice requirements of a medical discipline, the components sets including at least one component specifically applicable to the particular medical discipline, along with other components in common with those of component sets that support the practice of other medical disciplines. The resulting multi-function medical room is one suitable for placement in a nursing home or other remote location, where space and resources are scarce, and medical practitioners of diverse medical disciplines may treat vulnerable patient populations at the multi-function medical room location using components specifically configured for the medical care to be rendered.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A multi-function medical room system comprising:
 a room enclosure provided at a location remote from a medical facility;   a first component set comprising a plurality of components having applicability to a first medical discipline, the first component set being housed in the room enclosure; and   a second component set comprising a plurality of components having applicability to a second medical discipline, the second component set being housed in the room enclosure;   wherein the first and second component sets each have at least one component in common and wherein the first component set has at least one component that is not in common with the second component set.   
     
     
         2 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the location remote from a medical facility is a nursing home. 
     
     
         3 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the location remote from a medical facility is an extended stay facility. 
     
     
         4 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the location remote from a medical facility is a research facility. 
     
     
         5 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 1 , further comprising a third component set comprising a plurality of components having applicability to a third medical discipline, the third component set being housed in the room enclosure, wherein the third component set has at least one component in common with both the first and second component sets and wherein the third component set has at least one component that is not in common with both the first component set and the second component set. 
     
     
         6 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the components of the first component set are a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, and a changing nook. 
     
     
         7 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 6 , wherein the first medical discipline is primary care in medicine. 
     
     
         8 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 6 , wherein the components of the second component set are a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, a cleaning system, and a mobile dental unit. 
     
     
         9 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 8 , wherein the components of the second component set further comprise a radiography assembly. 
     
     
         10 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 9 , wherein the second medical discipline is dentistry. 
     
     
         11 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 10 , wherein the first medical discipline is selected from the group consisting of primary care in medicine, dermatology, podiatry, gynecology, and massage therapy. 
     
     
         12 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the second component set has at least one component that is not in common with the first component set. 
     
     
         13 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 12 , wherein the components of the first component set are a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, and a changing nook, the components of the second component set are a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, a cleaning system, and a mobile dental unit, the first medical discipline is primary care in medicine, and the second medical discipline is dentistry. 
     
     
         14 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 13 , wherein the location remote from a medical facility is a nursing home. 
     
     
         15 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 13 , wherein the components of the second component set further comprise a radiography assembly. 
     
     
         16 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 13 , wherein the components of the first and second component sets further comprise components selected from the group consisting of a mister of disinfectant, a lamp, an ultrasonic unit, an autoclave, a bio-waste container, a mobile mounting platform, a vacuum source, an air compressor, network connections, and an imaging system. 
     
     
         17 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 13 , further comprising a third component set comprising a plurality of components having applicability to a third medical discipline, the third component set being housed in the room enclosure, wherein the third component set has at least one component in common with both the first and second component sets and wherein the third component set has at least one component that is not in common with both the first component set and the second component set. 
     
     
         18 . The multi-function medical room system as defined in  claim 17 , wherein the components of the third component set are a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, and a headrest configured to accommodate a patient in the prone position, and wherein the third medical discipline is chiropractic care. 
     
     
         19 . A multi-function medical room system comprising:
 a room enclosure provided at a location remote from a medical facility;   a first component set comprising a plurality of components having applicability to a first medical discipline, the first component set being housed in the room enclosure;   a second component set comprising a plurality of components having applicability to a second medical discipline, the second component set being housed in the room enclosure;   a third component set comprising a plurality of components having applicability to a third medical discipline, the third component set being housed in the room enclosure;   wherein the location remote from a medical facility is a nursing home;   wherein the first and second component sets each have at least one component in common, the first component set having at least one component that is not in common with the second component set, and the second component set having at least one component that is not in common with the first component set;   wherein the third component set has at least one component in common with both the first and second component sets and wherein the third component set has at least one component that is not in common with both the first component set and the second component set;   wherein the components of the first component set include a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, and a changing nook;   wherein the first medical discipline is primary care in medicine;   wherein the components of the second component set include a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, a cleaning system, and a mobile dental unit;   wherein the second medical discipline is dentistry;   wherein the components of the third component set include a treatment table, a lighting assembly, a power facility, and a headrest configured to accommodate a patient in the prone position; and   wherein the third medical discipline is chiropractic care.
