Abstract
The present disclosure provides a system and method for providing a user with supplemental content based on the user's preferences and location. The disclosure provides a computer program that allows users to discover and organize content from a platform that is accessible from a mobile device or computer. Additionally, the disclosure provides a system for determining a user's location while indoors. The system can associate the user's location with specific content or items in a store and provide the user with supplemental content related to those items.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed:
1 . A method for displaying supplemental content to a user, the method comprising:
receiving, by a server, a beacon identification from a client device; determining, by the server, a premises with which the beacon identification is associated; sending, by the server, a request for supplemental content and an indication of the determined premises to a content database; receiving, by the server, a supplemental content item associated with the indication of the determined premises from the content database; and transmitting, by the server, the supplemental content item to the client device for display.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising selecting the supplemental content item from a plurality of supplemental content items using an ad auction.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a request for supplemental content from the client device.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a micro-location within the premises associated with the beacon identification.
5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising selecting the supplemental content item responsive to the determined micro-location within the premises.
6 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising updating the micro-location within the premises associated with the beacon identification.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving the supplemental content item from a third party.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the supplemental content is an advertisement.
9 . A system for displaying supplemental content to a user, the system comprising:
a server configured to:
receive a beacon identification from a client device;
determine a premises with which the beacon identification is associated;
send a request for supplemental content and an indication of the determined premises to a content database;
receive a supplemental content item associated with the indication of the determined premises from the content database; and
transmitting the supplemental content item to the client device for display.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the server is further configured to select the supplemental content item from a plurality of supplemental content items using an ad auction.
11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the server is further configured to receive a request for supplemental content from the client device.
12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the server is further configured to determine a micro-location within the premises associated with the beacon identification.
13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the server is further configured to select the supplemental content item responsive to the determined micro-location within the premises.
14 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the server is further configured to update the micro-location within the premises associated with the beacon identification.
15 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the server is further configured to receive the supplemental content item from a third party.
16 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the supplemental content is an advertisement.
17 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, the instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
receive a beacon identification from a client device; determine a premises with which the beacon identification is associated; send a request for supplemental content and an indication of the determined premises to a content database; receive a supplemental content item associated with the indication of the determined premises from the content database; and transmitting the supplemental content item to the client device for display.
18 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 17 , further comprising instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to select the supplemental content item from a plurality of supplemental content items using an ad auction.
19 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 17 , further comprising instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to determine a micro-location within the premises associated with the beacon identification.
20 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 19 , further comprising instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to select the supplemental content item responsive to the determined micro-location within the premises.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
