Condensate management system and methods
Abstract
A fluid management system for a drain is provided. The fluid management system includes an upstream drainage portion in fluid communication with the drain and a downstream drainage portion; a flushing assembly having an inlet and an outlet, wherein the flushing assembly is in fluid communication with the upstream drainage portion and the downstream drainage portion; a filter assembly disposed with the upstream drainage portion; and a logic panel configured to actuate the flushing assembly between a flushing mode and a standby mode. When the flushing assembly is actuated to the flushing mode, the flushing assembly is configured to exert a negative pressure at the inlet and a positive pressure at the outlet.

1 . A fluid management system for a drain, the fluid management system comprising:
an upstream drainage portion in fluid communication with the drain and a downstream drainage portion; a flushing assembly having an inlet and an outlet, wherein the flushing assembly is in fluid communication with the upstream drainage portion and the downstream drainage portion; a filter assembly disposed with the upstream drainage portion; and a logic panel configured to actuate the flushing assembly between a flushing mode and a standby mode; wherein when the flushing assembly is actuated to the flushing mode, the flushing assembly is configured to exert a negative pressure at the inlet and a positive pressure at the outlet.
2 . The fluid management system of claim 1 , wherein the filter assembly comprises:
a tee portion having a removable plug; and a conical filter at least partially disposed in the tee portion.
3 . The fluid management system of claim 2 , wherein the tee portion is transparent.
4 . The fluid management system of claim 2 , wherein when the flushing assembly is actuated to the flushing mode, the flushing assembly is configured to suction fluids through the conical filter.
5 . The fluid management system of claim 4 , the conical filter having an 6-10 mesh size.
6 . The fluid management system of claim 1 , wherein the filter assembly is located proximate the drain.
7 . The fluid management system of claim 6 , wherein the filter assembly comprises:
a tee portion having a removable plug; a conical filter; and a biocide disposed with the filter assembly.
8 . The fluid management system of claim 7 , wherein the conical filter is coated with the biocide.
9 . The fluid management system of claim 7 , wherein the conical filter is formed of the biocide.
10 . The fluid management system of claim 7 , wherein at least one of the tee portion, removable plug, and conical filter further comprise a slot, and
wherein the biocide is a tablet adapted to be inserted into the slot.
11 . The fluid management system of claim 7 , wherein when the flushing assembly is actuated to the flushing mode, the flushing assembly is configured to suction biocide from the flushing assembly.
12 . The fluid management system of claim 1 , wherein the drain is a drain of an air handler.
13 . The fluid management system of claim 12 , wherein the fluid is a condensate from the air handler.
