Abstract

Aspects of a method and system for an improved cellular diversity receiver are described. Aspects of the system may include circuitry that enables generation of an initially decoded output bit sequence by a first frame process for a received bit sequence for a plurality of received multipath signals. The first frame process may utilize redundancy based decoding, which imposes at least one physical constraint during the decoding, which may be performed by a decoding algorithm.

5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one physical constraint comprises one or more of a line spectral pair (LSP) set, a pitch delay, and a pitch gain.

6 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one physical constraint comprises one or more of gain continuity, smoothness in inter-frames or intra-frames, and consistency of line spectral frequency (LSF) parameters used to represent a spectral envelope.

7 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:
combining via one or both of a maximal ratio combining and an equal gain combining, at least a portion of individual path signals in said plurality of received multipath signals.

8 . The method according to claim 7 , wherein said combining includes using at least one channel estimate and at least one weighting factor, and wherein the at least one channel estimate and the at least one weighting factor are associated with an individual path signal in the at least portion of individual path signals.

9 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said plurality of received multipath signals comprises at least 3 individual path signals.

10 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising:
generating a newly decoded output bit sequence by a subsequent frame process based on output from the second burst process iteration of the burst process.
