Abstract

Systems, apparatus, methods, and articles of manufacture for outputting and utilization of risk zone information are provided. In some embodiments, risk zone information may be utilized to define, manage, output, and/or utilize risk zone-based navigational routing.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A navigational device, comprising:
 a processor; and a memory in communication with the processor, the memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor result in:
 providing a navigational interface comprising a plurality of selectable options;
 determining, based on input received via said plurality of selectable options, a definition of a desired risk zone-based navigational routing method;
 determining, based on the desired risk zone-based navigational routing method and stored risk zone data, a recommended route; and
 displaying, via the navigational interface, the recommended route.

         2 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of selectable options comprise options defining one or more of: (i) a risk type; (ii) a time frame; and (iii) a time period.

         3 . The navigational device of claim 2 , wherein the risk type comprises one or more of: (i) a type of accident; (ii) a type of crime; (iii) a type of injury; (iv) a type of weather; and (v) a type of malfunction.

         4 . The navigational device of claim 2 , wherein the time frame comprises one or more of: (i) a date; (ii) a time; (iii) daytime; and (iv) nighttime.

         5 . The navigational device of claim 2 , wherein the time period comprises one or more of: (i) a number of days.

         6 . The navigational device of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of selectable options comprise an option defining a risk score threshold parameter.

         7 . The navigational device of claim 6 , wherein the desired risk zone-based navigational routing method comprises a set of rules defining, for a set of available routes between a first point and a second point, one or more of: (i) a route with a risk score that is less than the risk score threshold parameter; (ii) a route with a risk score that is less than the risk score threshold parameter and a lowest ranking estimated time of travel; and (iii) a route with a risk score that is less than the risk score threshold parameter and a lowest ranking travel distance.

         8 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the desired risk zone-based navigational routing method comprises a set of rules defining, for a set of available routes between a first point and a second point, one or more of: (i) a route with a lowest ranking risk score; (ii) a route with the lowest ranking risk score and a lowest ranking estimated time of travel; and (iii) a route with the lowest ranking risk score and a lowest ranking travel distance.

         9 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the desired risk zone-based navigational routing method comprises a set of rules defining, for a set of available routes between a first point and a second point, one or more of: (i) a route with a lowest estimated insurance cost; (ii) a route with the lowest estimated insurance cost and a lowest ranking estimated time of travel; and (iii) a route with the lowest estimated insurance cost and a lowest ranking travel distance.

         10 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the risk zone data comprises insurance company claims data.

         11 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the risk zone data comprises one or more of: (i) third-party data; (ii) government data; (iii) news data; and (iv) weather data.

         12 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the risk zone data comprises transportation conduit object data.

         13 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the risk zone data comprises one or more of: (i) location object data; (ii) communication conduit object data; and (iii) mechanical object data.

         14 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the recommended route comprises routing instructions from a first location to a second location.

         15 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the navigational interface further comprises a plurality of risk zone filter options defining one or more of: (i) an activity type; (ii) an operator characteristic; (iii) an operator attribute; (iv) a vehicle characteristic; and (v) a vehicle attribute.

         16 . The navigational device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further result in:
 determining, based on the input received via said plurality of selectable options, that a defined risk zone parameter is not statistically relevant; and suggesting, in response to the determining that the defined risk zone parameter is not statistically relevant, a modified risk zone parameter.

         17 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that when executed by a processing device of a navigational device result in:
 providing a navigational interface comprising a plurality of selectable options; determining, based on input received via said plurality of selectable options, a definition of a desired risk zone-based navigational routing method; determining, based on the desired risk zone-based navigational routing method and stored risk zone data, a recommended route; and displaying, via the navigational interface, the recommended route
