Abstract

A coated fabric comprising a fabric substrate and a coating on said substrate, the coating comprising a binder and expandable graphite dispersed throughout the binder.

         11 . A roofing membrane including a backing that is a coated fabric including a fabric substrate and a coating on the substrate, where the coating includes a binder and expandable graphite dispersed throughout the binder.

         13 . A roofing membrane comprising:
 i. a polymeric sheet; and   ii. a coated fabric secured to the polymeric sheet, where the coated fabric includes a fabric substrate and a coating that includes a binder and expandable graphite dispersed throughout the binder.   
     
     
         14 . The roofing membrane of  claim 13 , where the polymeric sheet is a TPO sheet. 
     
     
         15 . The roofing membrane of  claim 14 , where the coated fabric is secured to the TPO sheet by virtue of being mated to the sheet while the sheet is in its semi-molten state. 
     
     
         16 . The roofing membrane of  claim 14 , where the coated fabric is a fleece. 
     
     
         17 . The roofing membrane of  claim 13 , where the polymeric sheet is a rubber sheet. 
     
     
         18 . The roofing membrane of  claim 17 , where the coated fabric is secured to the rubber sheet with an adhesive. 
     
     
         19 . A fleece-backed thermoplastic roofing membrane of the type where the fleece backing is secured to the thermoplastic membrane, the improvement comprising the fleece backing in the form of a coated fabric, where the coated fabric includes a fleece substrate carrying a coating that includes a binder and expandable graphite dispersed throughout the binder.
