Abstract

A combination couch trundle bed wherein the trundle bed mattress serves as support for the couch cushions when the trundle bed is concealed within the couch and the trundle bed can be pulled out without having to remove any of the couch cushions. Such a combination results in a couch bed with the look of a traditional couch and the comfort of a traditional couch and a traditional bed thereby overcoming the deficiencies of existing couch bed combinations.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A combination couch and trundle bed wherein:
 the couch seating cushions rest on a layer of mesh material that in turn rests on the trundle bed mattress when the trundle bed is concealed within the couch;   the layer of mesh material stretches/flexes to allow the trundle bed mattress to support the seating cushions when a person sits or lies on the couch;   the mesh layer is made of material that cannot be felt while sitting or lying on the couch cushions;   the trundle bed can be pulled out without having to remove any of the couch cushions; and   the trundle bed can be used without having to unfold the mattress.   
     
     
         2 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein the mesh material is a synthetic material that stretches. 
     
     
         3 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein the mesh material is connected to a frame by ties that stretch. 
     
     
         4 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein the layer of mesh material will support one of more persons lying on the couch without the trundle bed below. 
     
     
         5 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein the frame supporting the layer of mesh material is raised on one side to allow the trundle bed to more be more easily pulled out and pushed in. 
     
     
         6 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein the trundle bed frame contains a mechanism for raising and lowering the height of the trundle bed. 
     
     
         7 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein there is a mechanism to lock the trundle bed into place once it is fully pulled out or pushed in. 
     
     
         8 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein the trundle bed is connected to the couch by rails. 
     
     
         9 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein the trundle bed has wheels. 
     
     
         10 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein a standard size twin mattress (39″×75″) is used as the trundle bed mattress. 
     
     
         11 . The structure of  claim 1  wherein an extra-long size twin mattress (39″×80″) is used as the trundle bed mattress.
