Abstract

A system for pumping or mixing a fluid using a rotating pumping or mixing element and various other components for use in a pumping or mixing system are disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A mixing apparatus comprising a container having a wall extending in a vertical direction and including an interior compartment for receiving a fluid, a shaft external to the interior compartment and adapted for causing agitation of the fluid in connection with a mixer positioned within the interior compartment of the container, and a first motive device adapted for moving the shaft in the vertical direction.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the container comprises a flexible bag.

3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the shaft is positioned at least partially outside of the perimeter of the container, and projects into a portion of the container contacting the interior compartment.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the shaft is connected to a second motive device for rotating the shaft relative to the container.

5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the mixer is adapted for moving in the vertical direction relative to the container.

6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the container includes a cavity for receiving the shaft.

7 . A mixing apparatus comprising a container having a wall extending in a vertical direction and including an interior compartment for receiving a fluid, a shaft external to the interior compartment and adapted for causing agitation of the fluid in connection with a mixer positioned within the interior compartment of the container, and means for moving the shaft in the vertical direction.

8 . The mixing apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the means for moving comprises a linear actuator.

9 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the container comprises a flexible bag.

10 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the shaft is positioned at least partially outside of the perimeter of the container, and projects into a portion of the container contacting the interior compartment.

11 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the shaft is connected to a second motive device for rotating the shaft relative to the container.

12 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the mixer is adapted for moving in the vertical direction relative to the container.

13 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the container includes a cavity for receiving the shaft.

         14 . A mixing apparatus comprising:
a container having a wall extending in a vertical direction and including an interior compartment for receiving a fluid; a mixer positioned within the interior compartment of the container; a shaft external to the interior compartment and adapted for causing movement of the mixer; and a first motive device adapted for moving the shaft in the vertical direction.

15 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the container comprises a flexible bag.

16 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the shaft is positioned at least partially outside of the perimeter of the container, and projects into a portion of the container contacting the interior compartment.

17 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the shaft is connected to a second motive device for rotating the shaft relative to the container.

18 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the mixer is adapted for moving in the vertical direction relative to the container.

19 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the container includes a cavity for receiving the shaft.
