Abstract

A control device is provided. The control device includes a first communication interface unit which transmits a control command in a first communication mode which uses a bi-directional wireless communication, a second communication interface unit which transmits a control command in a second communication mode which uses a unidirectional wireless communication, a state determination unit which determines a communication mode of the control device, a user interface unit which displays a user interface window which corresponds to a determined communication mode and receives the control command with respect to a broadcast receiver and a control unit which transmits the received control command according to the determined communication mode.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A broadcast receiver, comprising:
a first communication interface configured to operate in a first communication mode which uses bi-directional wireless communication; a second communication interface configured to operate in a second communication mode which uses unidirectional wireless communication; and a controller configured to execute an operation corresponding to a control command received through at least one of the first communication interface and the second communication interface.

2 . The receiver as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the controller controls the first communication interface to form a link between the first communication interface and an external device for the bi-directional wireless communication, transmit information to the external device, or receive the control command from the external device.

3 . The receiver as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the information comprises at least one of channel information, current volume, play time, remaining play time, current time, and Electronic Program Guide (EPG).

4 . The receiver as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising:
a display; and a storage configured to store a content, wherein the controller controls the display to provide the content based on the received control command.

5 . The receiver as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the bi-directional wireless communication comprises at least one of WI-FI, Radio-Frequency (RF), BlueTooth, and Wireless HDMI-CEC.

6 . The receiver as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the unidirectional wireless communication comprises Infrared Data Association.

7 . A method for controlling a broadcast receiver, comprising:
receiving a control command through at least one of a first communication interface configured to operate in a first communication mode which uses bi-directional wireless communication and a second communication interface configured to operate in a second communication mode which uses unidirectional wireless communication; and executing an operation corresponding to the received control command.

8 . The method as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the first communication interface forming a link with an external device for the bi-directional wireless communication; and
transmitting information to the external device, or receiving the control demand from the external device.

9 . The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the information comprises at least one of channel information, current volume, play time, remaining play time, current time, and Electronic Program Guide (EPG).

10 . The method as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the executing comprises providing a prestored content based on the received control command.

11 . The method as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the bi-directional wireless communication comprises at least one of WI-FI, Radio-Frequency (RF), BlueTooth, and Wireless HDMI-CEC, and
wherein the unidirectional wireless communication comprises Infrared Data Association.

12 . A control device which controls a broadcast receiver, the device comprising:
a first communication interface configured to operate in a first communication mode which uses bi-directional wireless communication; a second communication interface configured to transmit a control command to a second communication mode which uses unidirectional wireless communication; a user interface configured to have at least one function key to be input a control command on the broadcast receiver; and a controller configured to transmit the control command through one of the first communication interface and the second communication interface according to a communication mode corresponding to a selected function key in accordance with a user command.

13 . The device as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the controller controls the second communication interface to form the link between the first communication interface and the broadcast receiver, and
wherein the controller, if it is impossible for the first communication interface to communicate with the broadcast receiver, controls the second communication interface to transmit a control command received through the user interface.

14 . The device as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the controller, when a communication mode corresponding to the selected function key is the second communication mode, controls the second communication interface to transmit the control command and sets the first communication interface as a sleep mode.
