Abstract

A Web server function is provided for an image processing apparatus including a scanner for reading an image on a document, a printer for printing an image, an E-mail transmission/reception function, a FAX transmission/reception function, and the like to make the image processing apparatus generate a list of information about the status of various jobs and image data stored in a storage unit as a Web page. A user can browse and operate this Web page by using the Web browser of a computer connected to the apparatus through a LAN. The user of the computer can therefore grasp and manipulate information about a plurality of jobs executed by the image processing apparatus and information about image data at a remote place from the image processing apparatus.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

2 . A printing apparatus capable of executing a plurality of types of jobs, comprising:
a generation unit that generates a first screen data for displaying a first screen image by an external device and a second screen data for displaying a second screen image by the external device, wherein the first screen image contains information regarding a type of job which is being executed or has not been executed yet and which is selected from among the plurality of types of jobs by a user, and the second screen image contains log information regarding the same type of job that the first screen image contains; and a transmission unit that transmits the first screen data and the second screen data to the external device, wherein the first screen image contains a first instruction part for receiving a display instruction input by a user for displaying the second screen image, and wherein the second screen image is displayed at the external device in accordance with the display instruction input via the first instruction part.

3 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the first screen image contains a second instruction part for changing the type of job which is displayed on the first screen image.

4 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the first screen image contains a job status.

5 . The apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the first screen image contains a third instruction part for changing the job status.

6 . The apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the job status indicates the job being under execution, waiting execution, suspended or locked.

7 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the second screen image contains a fourth instruction part for receiving an instruction of displaying the first screen image input by a user.

8 . The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the fourth instruction part is associated with each of the plurality of types of jobs and displayed.

9 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the plurality of types of jobs includes two or more types among a print job, copy job, transmission job and facsimile job.

10 . The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the screen data generated by the generation unit is HTML data.

11 . A method of controlling a printing apparatus capable of executing a plurality of types of jobs, said method comprising:
generating a first screen data for displaying a first screen image by an external device and a second screen data for displaying a second screen image by the external device, wherein the first screen image contains information regarding a type of job which is being executed or has not been executed yet and which is selected from among the plurality of types of jobs by a user, and the second screen image contains log information regarding the same type of job that the first screen image contains; and transmitting the first screen data and the second screen data to the external device, wherein the first screen image contains an instruction part for receiving a display instruction input by a user for displaying the second screen image, and wherein the second screen image is displayed at the external device in accordance with the display instruction input via the instruction part.

12 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium for causing a computer to execute a method of controlling a printing apparatus capable of executing a plurality of types of jobs, said method comprising:
generating a first screen data for displaying a first screen image by an external device and a second screen data for displaying a second screen image by the external device, wherein the first screen image contains information regarding a type of job which is being executed or has not been executed yet and which is selected from among the plurality of types of jobs by a user, and the second screen image contains log information regarding the same type of job that the first screen image contains; and transmitting the first screen data and the second screen data to the external device, wherein the first screen image contains an instruction part for receiving a display instruction input by a user for displaying the second screen image, and wherein the second screen image is displayed at the external device in accordance with the display instruction input via the instruction part.
