Abstract

Disclosed are: a novel cineraria -derived polynucleotide which can act as a promoter for a coding region of flavonoid 3′,5′-hydroxylase (F3′5′H); and a novel F3′5′H gene construct which carries the polynucleotide. Specifically disclosed are: a cineraria -derived petal-specific promoter which is selected from the group consisting of (1) a polynucleotide having the nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:9 and (2) a polynucleotide which can hybridize with the polynucleotide having the nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:9 under stringent conditions and can act as a promoter for a coding region of flavonoid 3′,5′-hydroxylase (F3′5′H); and a gene construct for inhibiting the expression of a gene in an RNAi method, which has, as a loop, a polynucleotide comprising the whole or a part of a first intron of the novel cineraria -derived polynucleotide.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 7 . (canceled)

8 . A gene construct for inhibiting expression of a gene by RNAi having a polynucleotide that is all or a portion of a first intron at position 3093 to position 3017 of the nucleotide sequence indicated in SEQ ID NO: 6 in a loop.

9 . The gene construct according to claim 8 , wherein the gene for which expression is inhibited is flavonoid 3′,5′-hydroxylase.

10 . A plant introduced with the gene construct according to claim 9 , an organ thereof, a tissue thereof, a progeny thereof or a vegetative growth form thereof.

11 . The plant according to claim 10 , in which the flavonoid content thereof has changed before and after the introduction, an organ thereof, a tissue thereof, a progeny thereof or a vegetative growth form thereof.

12 . The plant according to claim 10 , in which the delphinidin content thereof has changed before and after the introduction, an organ thereof, a tissue thereof, a progeny thereof or a vegetative growth form thereof.

13 . The plant according to claim 10 , in which the pelargonidin content thereof has changed before and after the introduction, an organ thereof, a tissue thereof, a progeny thereof or a vegetative growth form thereof.

14 . The plant according to claim 10 , in which the flower color thereof has changed before and after the introduction, or progeny thereof.
