Abstract
A spend mapping tool provides a system, method, and computer program product for analyzing transactions between merchants and cardmembers. The tool groups a merchant by industry in a merchant industry group. The tool also groups a cardmember by industry in a cardmember industry group. Further, the tool analyzes transaction data from a transaction between at least one merchant in said merchant industry group and at least one cardmember in said cardmember industry group.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
determining, by a transaction analysis computer processor, an aggregate transaction value over a period of time from transaction data from transactions between a merchant in a merchant industry and an account holder in an account holder industry group, filtering, by the computer processor, by account holder account tenure and by merchant account tenure, wherein the account holder account tenure comprises a period of time during which the account holder has held open an account holder transaction account, and wherein the merchant account tenure comprises a period of time during which the merchant has held open a merchant transaction account, developing, by the computer processor, an industry strategy based upon the determining and filtering; and targeting, by the computer processor, a first advertisement to the merchant and a second advertisement to the account holder.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising grouping, by the computer processor, the merchant by industry in the merchant industry group.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising grouping, by the computer processor, the account holder by industry in the account holder industry group.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the account holder is a business organization.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of grouping of the merchant and grouping of the account holder is by a standard industry classification (SIC) code.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising at least one of:
determining a number of transactions; determining a transaction amount; determining a number of account holder accounts; determining a number of merchant accounts; filtering by geography; filtering by card product; filtering to segment a market; listing the merchant by the merchant industry group; listing the account holder by the account holder industry group; and determining a trend in transaction data over time.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the transaction data includes at least one of:
a transaction amount; a number of transactions per merchant; a number of transactions per account holder; a merchant geographical location; an account holder geographical location, a merchant tenure; and an account holder tenure.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the industry strategy comprises at least one of:
identifying a risk associated with the merchant and the account holder; and determining an optimal ratio of price of advertising to return on advertising.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising evaluating the advertisement to at least one of the merchant and the account holder based on the filtering.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a transaction risk based on the filtering.
11 . An article of manufacture comprising a non-transitory, tangible computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by a transaction analysis computer-based system, cause the computer-based system to be capable of performing operations comprising:
determining, by the computer-based system, an aggregate transaction value over a period of time from transaction data from transactions between a merchant in a merchant industry and an account holder in an account holder industry group, filtering, by the computer-based system, by account holder account tenure and by merchant account tenure, wherein the account holder account tenure comprises a period of time during which the account holder has held open an account holder transaction account, and wherein the merchant account tenure comprises a period of time during which the merchant has held open a merchant transaction account, developing, by the computer-based system, an industry strategy based upon the determining and filtering; and targeting, by the computer-based system, a first advertisement to the merchant and a second advertisement to the account holder.
12 . The article of claim 11 , further comprising grouping, by the computer-based system, the merchant by industry in the merchant industry group.
13 . The article of claim 11 , further comprising grouping, by the computer-based system, the account holder by industry in the account holder industry group.
14 . The article of claim 11 , wherein at least one of grouping of the merchant and grouping of the account holder is by a standard industry classification (SIC) code.
15 . The article of claim 11 , further comprising at least one of:
determining a number of transactions; determining a transaction amount; determining a number of account holder accounts; determining a number of merchant accounts; filtering by geography; filtering by card product; filtering to segment a market; listing the merchant by the merchant industry group; listing the account holder by the account holder industry group; and determining a trend in transaction data over time.
16 . The article of claim 11 , wherein the transaction data includes at least one of:
a transaction amount; a number of transactions per merchant; a number of transactions per account holder; a merchant geographical location; an account holder geographical location, a merchant tenure; and an account holder tenure.
17 . The article of claim 11 , wherein the industry strategy comprises at least one of:
identifying a risk associated with the merchant and the account holder; and determining an optimal ratio of price of advertising to return on advertising.
18 . The article of claim 11 , further comprising evaluating the advertisement to at least one of the merchant and the account holder based on the filtering.
19 . The article of claim 11 , further comprising determining a transaction risk based on the filtering.
20 . A system comprising:
a transaction analysis processor; a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the processor, the tangible, non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations; a determination module in communication with the processor and configured to determine an aggregate transaction value over a period of time from transaction data from transactions between a merchant in a merchant industry and an account holder in an account holder industry group, a filtering module in communication with the processor and configured to filter by account holder account tenure and by merchant account tenure, wherein the account holder account tenure comprises a period of time during which the account holder has held open an account holder transaction account, and wherein the merchant account tenure comprises a period of time during which the merchant has held open a merchant transaction account, a developing module in communication with the processor and configured to develop an industry strategy based upon the determining and filtering; and a targeting module in communication with the processor and configured to target a first advertisement to the merchant and a second advertisement to the account holder.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
