Emulated radio frequency identification
Abstract
A mobile communication device is equipped with hardware and/or software components to enable the device to output a data in a form of a radio frequency signal, emulating outputting of the data by either an active or a passive RFID transponder. The data may be a security key or an identifier. Emulation of an active RFID transponder includes facilitating selection of the data and instruction to output by a user. Emulation of a passive RFID transponder includes detecting for proximal presence of a RFID reader. Either case, provision of the data to the mobile communication device may include provision of associated signal attribute(s).

62 . The mobile communications device of claim 61 , wherein the control system is further configured to receive a command from the user selecting one of the multiple displayed RFID names as a default RFID name.
63 . The mobile communications device of claim 61 , wherein the control system is further configured to transmit an RFID number associated with the selected RFID name.
64 . The mobile communications device of claim 61 , wherein the control system is further configured to:
receive a probing signal from an RFID reader; and transmit an RFID number associated with the default RFID name in response to the probing signal.
65 . The mobile communications device of claim 61 , wherein the multiple displayed RFID names include a first payment card name and a second payment card name.
66 . The mobile communications device of claim 65 , wherein the control system is further configured to prompt the user to add an additional payment card name.
67 . The mobile communications device of claim 66 , wherein the control system is further configured to prompt the user to enter an RFID number.
68 . The mobile communications device of claim 67 , wherein the control system is further configured to prompt the user to enter additional information, and associate the additional information with the entered RFID number.
69 . The mobile communications device of claim 61 , wherein the control system is further configured to prompt the user to add an additional RFID name.
70 . The mobile communications device of claim 69 , wherein the control system is further configured to prompt the user to enter an RFID number.
71 . The mobile communications device of claim 70 , wherein the control system is further configured to:
prompt the user to enter additional information, and associate the additional information with the entered RFID number.
72 . The mobile communications device of claim 70 , wherein the entered RFID number and additional information are associated with the additional RFID name.
73 . A mobile communications device comprising:
a user interface; communication circuitry configured to provide RFID communications and to provide voice call communications; and a control system associated with the user interface and with the communication circuitry, wherein the control system is configured to: display a first screen prompting a user to select from multiple RFID names; receive a selection of a first RFID name from the multiple RFID names; and transmit a first RFID number associated with the first RFID name.
74 . The mobile communications device of claim 73 , wherein the displaying the first screen is performed in response to receiving a probing signal.
75 . The mobile communications device of claim 73 , wherein the control system is further configured to:
receive a probing signal after receiving the selection of the first RFID name; and transmit the first RFID number associated with the first RFID name in response to receiving the probing signal.
76 . The mobile communications device of claim 73 , wherein the control system is further configured to:
receive a selection of a second RFID name from the multiple RFID names; and transmit a second RFID number associated with the second RFID name.
77 . The mobile communications device of claim 76 , wherein displaying the first screen is performed in response to receiving a probing signal.
78 . The mobile communications device of claim 76 , wherein the control system is further configured to:
receive a probing signal after selection of the first RFID name and the second RFID name; and transmit the first RFID number and the second RFID number in response to receiving the probing signal.
79 . A mobile communications device comprising:
a user interface; communication circuitry configured to provide RFID communications and to provide voice call communications; and a control system associated with the user interface and with the communication circuitry, wherein the control system is configured to:
display at least a first RFID name;
receive a command selecting the first RFID name as a default RFID name;
receive a first RFID signal; and
transmit an RFID number associated with the default RFID name.
80 . The mobile communications device of claim 79 , wherein the displayed at least the first RFID name is displayed from multiple RFID names.
81 . The mobile communications device of claim 79 , wherein transmitting the RFID number is performed in response to receiving the first RFID signal.
82 . The mobile communications device of claim 79 , wherein the first RFID signal is a probing signal from an RFID reader.
83 . The mobile communications device of claim 79 , wherein the first RFID signal is a payment request signal.
84 . The mobile communications device of claim 79 , wherein the control system is further configured to transmit additional information associated with the default RFID name.
85 . A mobile communications device comprising:
a user interface; communication circuitry configured to provide RFID communications and to provide voice call communications; and a control system associated with the user interface and with the communication circuitry, wherein the control system is configured to:
display multiple RFID names,
receive a command selecting a default RFID name from the multiple RFID names; and
transmit an RFID number that is associated with the default RFID name.
86 . The mobile communications device of claim 85 , wherein the transmitting the RFID number occurs in response to receiving a transmit command from a user.
87 . The mobile communications device of claim 85 , wherein the transmitting occurs at predetermined intervals.
88 . The mobile communications device of claim 87 , wherein the transmitting is performed at the predetermined intervals without requiring any additional transmit commands from a user.
