Abstract

A sealcoat system for providing a sealcoat that is free of silica. The sealcoat system generally includes providing a sealer, crushed glass, water and an additive, mixing the sealer together with the crushed glass, water and additive to form a sealcoat composition, and applying the sealcoat composition to a road. The crushed glass is preferably comprised of soda-lime glass and is further preferably comprised of container glass used in the production of bottles and jars.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The invention claimed is:

1 . A sealcoat for use in sealing a surface, comprising:
a sealer; and crushed glass within said sealer.

2 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of soda-lime glass.

3 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of container glass.

4 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of recycled glass cullet derived from glass containers.

5 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said crushed glass is purified by a purification process.

6 . The sealcoat of claim 6 , wherein said purification process is comprised of a heat process.

7 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of a size of approximately 360 mils.

8 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said crush glass is comprised of a size of between 20 to 75 mesh AFS.

9 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said crushed glass does not include flat glass.

10 . The sealcoat of claim 1 , wherein said sealer is comprised of an asphalt emulsion sealer, a coal tar emulsion sealer or oil based sealer.

         11 . A sealed asphalt road, comprising:
an asphalt road having an upper surface; and a sealcoat attached to said upper surface of said road, said sealcoat comprised of a sealer and crushed glass within said sealer.

12 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of soda-lime glass.

13 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of container glass.

14 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of recycled glass cullet derived from glass containers.

15 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said crushed glass is purified by a purification process.

16 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 16 , wherein said purification process is comprised of a heat process.

17 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said crushed glass is comprised of a size of approximately 360 mils.

18 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said crush glass is comprised of a size of between 20 to 75 mesh AFS.

19 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said crushed glass does not include flat glass.

20 . The sealed asphalt road of claim 11 , wherein said sealer is comprised of an asphalt emulsion sealer, a coal tar emulsion sealer or oil based sealer.
