Abstract
An apparatus for a bicycle including a stem body and a mount. The stem body can include at least one handlebar clamping surface and at least one mount clamping surface. The mount can include a first clamping surface. The first clamping surface can be configured to match at least one mount clamping surface. The mount can be configured to clamp between the stem body and a handlebar.

1 . An apparatus for a bicycle, comprising:
a stem body including at least one handlebar clamping surface and at least one mount clamping surface; and a mount including a first clamping surface; wherein:
the first clamping surface is configured to match at least one mount clamping surface; and
the mount is configured to be clamped between the stem body and a handlebar.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one mount clamping surface is located next to the handlebar clamping surface.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the mount extends at least from a top of the stem body to a bottom of the stem body.
4 . The apparatus of claim 3 , where the mount further comprises a second clamping surface and the at least one handlebar clamping surface is configured to clamp the mount against the handlebar at a top of the stem body and a bottom of the stem body.
5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stem body comprises a first material, the mount comprises a second material, and the second material is more compressible than the first material.
6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the stem body has a bulk modulus greater than 50 GPa and the mount has a bulk modulus less than 50 GPa.
7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising at least one faceplate configured to clamp a handlebar to the stem body.
8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the mount further comprises a second clamping surface.
9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the mount further comprises a handlebar clamping surface configured to match a contour of a handlebar.
10 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one handlebar clamping surface is configured to match at least one of a handlebar with a circular cross-section or a handlebar with an oval cross-section.
11 . An apparatus for a bicycle, comprising:
a stem body including a cavity and at least one handlebar clamping surface; wherein an opening of the cavity includes at least one mount clamping surface; and a mount including a first clamping surface and a second clamping surface; wherein the first clamping surface is configured to match at least one mount clamping surface and the second clamping surface is configured to match at least one mount clamping surface.
12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the at least one mount clamping surface is located next to the handlebar clamping surface.
13 . The apparatus of claim 11 , further comprising a faceplate.
14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , further comprising a handlebar.
15 . The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the at least one mount clamping surface and the first clamping surface are configured such that when the faceplate is tightened against the stem body and the handlebar, the mount is securely captured between the handlebar and the stem body and the handlebar.
16 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the mount comprises a first mounting surface and a hidden surface configured to match the contours of the stem body.
