Method for the translation of a white light color palette to a black light color palette
Abstract
One implementation of the present disclosure is a computing device for identifying a translated color from a desired color. The computing device includes at least one memory component storing a translation chart. The translation chart includes information implementing a correspondence between each of a plurality of first colors and each of a plurality of second colors. The computing device also includes one or more processing elements in communication with the at least one memory component. The processing element or elements are configured to receive one or more appearance characteristics of the desired color under a first light source and evaluate the translation chart to determine a translated color that includes the one or more appearance characteristics of the desired color under a second light source.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computing device for identifying a translated color from a desired color, comprising:
at least one memory component storing a translation chart, wherein the translation chart includes information implementing a correspondence between each of a plurality of first colors and each of a plurality of second colors; and a processing element in communication with the at least one memory component, the processing element configured to:
receive one or more appearance characteristics of the desired color under a first light source; and
evaluate the translation chart to determine a translated color that includes the one or more appearance characteristics of the desired color under a second light source.
2 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the first light is a white light and the second light is an ultra violet light.
3 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the processing element is further configured to determine a mixing ratio of two or more colors to create the translated color.
4 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the translated color under the second light source matches the appearance of the desired color under the first light source.
5 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the processing element is further configured to send data corresponding to the translated color to a printer.
6 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the one or more characteristics include at least two of hue, value, or luminosity.
7 . The computing device of claim 1 further comprising: a printer wherein the translated color is used to apply ink from the printer to an object
8 . A translation tool for determining a desired color, comprising:
a plurality of first references to first colors having one or more characteristics under a first type of light; a plurality of second references to second colors having one or more characteristics under a second type of light; and a chart identifying one of the second references to a second color that when illuminated by the second type of light matches one or more characteristics of a first color when illuminated by the first type of light.
9 . The translation tool of claim 8 , wherein the chart includes one or more mixing ratios to create a color sample that appears substantially uniform when illuminated by the first type of light and the second type of light.
10 . The translation tool of claim 8 , wherein the chart is stored on a computing device.
11 . The translation tool of claim 8 , wherein the first type of light is an ultra violet source and the second type of light is a white light source.
12 . The translation tool of claim 8 , wherein the first references and the second references comprises one or more color reference numbers for each of the first colors and each of the second colors, respectively.
13 . The translation tool of claim 8 wherein the one or more characteristics under the first type of light include hue and value.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
