Zipper attached sports glove with fly cover protection

Abstract

A sports glove, such as hockey, lacrosse and other sports gloves, includes a front palm portion having finger stalls for insertion of fingers therein, a back portion which is attachable to said front palm portion by a connector, such as a zipper, wherein the zipper connector is covered by a fly cover having an attachment end and a free end, wherein further lifting of the free end of the fly cover exposes the zipper for user engagement therewith.

1 . A sports glove, comprising:
 a front palm portion having finger stalls for insertion of fingers therein;   a back glove portion attachable to said front palm portion by a connector; and   said connector covered by a fly cover extending over said connector;   wherein said connector and said fly cover extend in a continuous peripheral non-linear serpentine line of varying radii around each finger stall and thumb stall and side of hand leading toward the cuff on the glove portion and each finger stall and thumb stall and side of hand leading to said cuff on said front palm portion.   
     
     
         2 . The sports glove as in  claim 1  wherein said connector is a zipper. 
     
     
         3 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein a connection end of said fly back to front cover is attached to said back portion of said sports glove. 
     
     
         4 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein a connection end of said fly front to back cover is attached to said front palm portion of said sports glove. 
     
     
         5 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein a connection end of said fly back to front cover is attached to a side portion of said sports glove between said back portion and said front palm portion of said sports glove. 
     
     
         6 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein said zipper connector has teeth spaced from the a back side of said front palm portion. 
     
     
         7 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein said zipper connector is attached toward a middle of said fingers of said sports glove. 
     
     
         8 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein said zipper connector is attached toward a back of said fingers of said sports glove. 
     
     
         9 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein said zipper connector is attached toward a front of said fingers of said sports glove. 
     
     
         10 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  further comprising a plurality of padding members internally encapsulated within said sports glove. 
     
     
         11 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  further comprising a closable wrist cuff including a back portion attached to the back glove portion of said sports glove.

         14 . The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein said back portion and said front palm portion are attached together by said zipper being on said front palm portion and said back portion, said zipper being covered by said fly cover.

The sports glove as in  claim 2  wherein said back portion and said front palm portion are attached together by said zipper being on said front palm portion and said back portion, said zipper being covered by a combination of front to back and back to front fly covers extending over said zipper.

The sports glove as in  claim 15  wherein said zipper and said fly covers extend along the thumb on said sports glove portion and on the front palm portion and fingers of said front palm portion, thereby connecting said front palm portion to said back portion forming a hand receiving unit. 
     
     
         18 . The sports glove as in  claim 15  wherein said combination of front to back and back to front fly covers extending over said zipper overlap each other. 
     
     
         19 . A method of protecting the exposed face, neck and hand skin of a contact sports game participant wearer when exposed to a violent contact by exposed zippers on a glove of an opposing contact sports game participant during a contact sports game, said glove having a separate joinable front palm portion having finger stalls for insertion of fingers therein and a separate back joinable glove portion joinable attachable to said front palm portion by a zipper; the method comprising the steps of:
 providing a protective glove with at least one fly cover covering said zipper;   extending said at least one fly cover in a continuous peripheral non-linear serpentine line of varying radii over said zipper around each finger stall and thumb stall and side of hand leading toward the cuff on the glove portion and each finger stall and thumb stall and side of hand leading to said cuff on said front palm portion;   providing a physical barrier overlaying the outer surface of the zipper with said fly cover and preventing violent physical contact of said zipper to the exposed face, neck and hand skin of the opposing contact sports game participant.   
     
     
         20 . The method as in  claim 19  further comprising the step of providing a plurality of fly covers over said zipper and overlapping each other from front to back and from back to front between said separate joinable front palm portion and said separate joinable back glove portion of said glove.
