Claims

Abstract

A method of protecting individuals entering or exiting an aircraft is provided. The method includes prior to the individuals entering or exiting the aircraft, removably attaching an entryway head guard to a frame of an entryway of the aircraft to protect the individuals entering or exiting the aircraft, the entryway head guard comprising a main body made of a protective material, wherein the main body has a contour that complements the frame of the aircraft passenger entryway such that the entryway head guard is configured to fit against the frame. The method further provides that after the individuals enter or exit the aircraft, removing the entryway head guard from the door of the aircraft.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An entryway head guard for an aircraft entryway having a frame associated with an aircraft door , the entryway head guard comprising:
 a main body having a central portion comprised of padding and first and second ends;   an exterior cover wrapped around the main body;   wherein the main body has a shape such that the central portion of the main body fits to the frame of the aircraft entryway to cover a top portion of the frame to protect individuals entering or exiting the aircraft through the door.   
     
     
         2 . The entryway head guard of  claim 1  wherein the main body comprises a precast protective material. 
     
     
         3 . The entryway head guard of  claim 2  wherein the precast protective material comprises foam. 
     
     
         4 . The entryway head guard of  claim 1  wherein the exterior cover has indicia thereon. 
     
     
         5 . The entryway head guard of  claim 4  wherein the indicia comprises a textual message. 
     
     
         6 . The entryway head guard of  claim 1  further comprising an adapting piece wherein the adapting piece is configured to connect to the frame associated with the entryway and wherein the main body further comprises a notch, the adapting piece fitting within the notch. 
     
     
         7 . The entryway head guard of  claim 1  wherein the main body being formed of unitary construction. 
     
     
         8 . The entryway head guard of  claim 8  wherein the entryway is selected from a set consisting of a main cabin entryway, a galley way, a cargo hold entryway, and a service entryway.
