Abstract

An insulated wall assembly including a plurality of pre-cast panels, a plurality of insulation panels, at least two J-shaped clips, and at least one I-shaped clip is provided. The pre-cast panels may be oriented such that the adjacent vertical edges are in an abutting relationship to form a wall, and the J-shaped clips comprise a trough portion and a wall engaging portion. The I-shaped clip comprises two wall engaging portions and a two retention portions, and the wall engaging portions of the J-shaped clips each define a substantially planar wall-engaging surface capable of attaching to the wall. The wall-engaging portions of the I-shaped clip each define a substantially planar wall-engaging surface capable of attaching to the wall. The trough portion of the J-shaped clip comprises at least one pliant integral co-extruded seal extending away from a distal edge of the trough portion in an angled configuration, and each retention portion of the I-shaped clip includes at least one pliant integral co-extruded seal extending away from a distal edge of the retention portion in an angled configuration.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1 . An insulated wall assembly comprising a plurality of pre-cast panels, a plurality of insulation panels, at least two retention clips, and at least one I-shaped clip, wherein:
the plurality of pre-cast panels are oriented such that the adjacent vertical edges thereof are in an abutting relationship to form a wall; the retention clips comprise a trough portion and a wall engaging portion; the I-shaped clip is of unitary construction and comprises two wall engaging portions and a two retention portions; the wall engaging portions of the retention clips each define a substantially planar wall-engaging surface capable of attaching to the wall; the wall-engaging portions of the I-shaped clip each define a substantially planar wall-engaging surface capable of attaching to the wall; the trough portion of the retention clip comprises at least one pliant integral co-extruded seal extending away from a distal edge of the trough portion in an angled configuration; each retention portion of the I-shaped clip comprises at least one pliant integral co-extruded seal extending away from a distal edge of the retention portion in an angled configuration; the longitudinal dimensions of the respective retention clips extend along a horizontal dimension of the insulation panels; the longitudinal dimension of the I-shaped clip extends along a vertical dimension of the insulation panels; the trough of one of the retention clips is provided on a bottom portion of the plurality of insulation panels and the trough of another one of the retention clips is provided on a top portion of the plurality of insulation panels; a side portion of the insulation panel is provided within one retention portion of the I-shaped clip; the plurality of insulation panels have a major surface parallel to a surface of the wall; both ends of the I-shaped clip extend vertically into the opposing trough portion of the at least two retention clips; the co-extruded seals of the I-shaped clip engage a major face of the plurality of insulation panels; and the co-extruded seal of the retention clips engages the major face of the plurality insulation panels.

2 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least two retention clips are of unitary construction.

3 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the wall-engaging portions are elongate relative to the retention portions, defining an attachment-receiving tab such that a substantially outward-facing normal projection from a surface on said tab does not intersect said plurality of walls.

4 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 3 , wherein said attachment-receiving tab is configured to receive a fastener therethrough, said tab extending a sufficient amount to facilitate substantially unimpeded access of said fastener to said I-shaped to retain said I-shaped clip on said wall.

5 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 4 , wherein said tab defines an aperture therein.

6 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the I-shaped clip comprises an integrally-formed spring along a portion of the I-shaped clip that extends between the wall engaging and retention portions of the I-shaped clip.

7 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 6 , wherein the integrally-formed spring is S-shaped.

8 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the I-shaped clip comprises at least one spring disposed along one of a plurality of walls that extends substantially perpendicular to said wall-engaging portions.

9 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 8 , wherein the spring comprises a non-linear portion.

10 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 9 , wherein the spring is integrally-formed.

11 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the I-shaped clip comprises at least one spring disposed along at least one of the two retention portions.

12 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 11 , wherein the spring comprises a non-linear portion.

13 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 11 , wherein the I-shaped clip comprises a spring disposed along each of the two retention portions.

14 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the I-shaped clip comprises at least one integrally-formed spring disposed along at least one of the two retention portions.

15 . The insulated wall panel assembly of claim 14 , wherein the integrally-formed spring is S-shaped.
