Abstract
An up-right walker for supporting a patient with up-right posture. The up-right walker includes a pair of opposing side frames joined at a leading edge by a connecting frame, the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame forming a support structure with an opening for receiving a user therebetween. A first and second body support structure is coupled to the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame and forming an angled slope with respect to a floor surface, the first and second body structure arranged to support the user in an upright position.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An up-right walker, comprising:
a pair of opposing side frames joined at a leading edge by a connecting frame, the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame forming a support structure with an opening for receiving a user therebetween; a first and second body support structure coupled to the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame and forming an angled slope with respect to a floor surface, the first and second body structure arranged to support the user in an upright position.
2 . The up-right walker of claim 1 , wherein the first and second body support structure enabling positioning of a user closer to the connecting frame to provide vertical support to the user thereby allowing an upright position while moving.
3 . The up-right walker of claim 1 , wherein the angle slope of the first and second body support structure is adjustable.
4 . The up-right walker of claim 1 further comprising wheels moveably coupled to the pair of opposing frames.
5 . The up-right walker of claim 1 further comprising a first hand grip provided at a distal end of the first body support structure and a second hand grip provided at a distal end of the second body support structure.
6 . The up-right walker of claim 1 , wherein the pair of opposing side frames include couplers for adjusting a height of the pair of opposing side frames relative to the floor surface.
7 . The up-right walker of claim 1 further comprising a first and second pivot mechanism coupling the pair of opposing side frame to connecting frame for collapsing the pair of opposing side frames inwardly to facilitate storage.
8 . A method for providing an up-right walker, comprising:
providing a first side frame having a back leg frame and a front leg frame; providing a second side frame having a back leg frame and a front leg frame; providing a pair of opposing side frames; joining the pair of opposing side frames at a leading edge with a connecting frame, the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame forming a support structure with an opening for receiving a user therebetween; coupling a first and second body support structure to the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame at an angled slope with respect to a floor surface, the first and second body structure arranged to support the user in an upright position.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the coupling the coupling a first and second body support structure to the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame further comprises fixedly coupling the first and second body support structures.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the coupling the coupling a first and second body support structure to the pair of opposing side frames and connecting frame further comprises adjustably coupling the first and second body support structures.
11 . The method of claim 8 further comprising providing a first and second hand grip at a distal end of the first and second body support structure, respectively.
12 . The method of claim 8 further comprising providing couplers to the pair of opposing side frames for adjusting a height of the first and second support structure relative to the floor surface.
13 . The method of claim 8 further comprising providing a first and second pivot mechanism for coupling the pair of opposing side frames to the connecting frame for collapsing the first and second side frame inwardly to facilitate storage.
14 . The method of claim 8 further comprising coupling a knee support platform to the pair of opposing side frames and providing a pivoting knee repository coupled to the knee support platform for receiving and supporting a knee therein.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
