System and method for processing data relating to supplemental bundled insurance
Abstract
According to some embodiments, a workers' compensation insurance premium may be calculated for a workers' compensation insurance policy covering a group of employees employed by an employer. Moreover, supplemental bundled insurance premiums may be calculated for each employee to provide individual, supplemental bundled insurance policies. The supplemental bundled insurance premiums may be contingent upon the employer's agreement to pay the workers' compensation insurance premium. By way of examples, the supplemental bundled insurance policies might be associated with one or more of short term disability insurance, long term disability insurance, accidental death insurance, accidental disability insurance and/or hospital accident insurance.
Claims

1 . A computer system for processing data related to a workers' compensation insurance policy issued to an employer and supplemental bundled disability insurance policies covering employees employed by the employer, comprising:
one or more data storage devices including a database storing employee data about the employees including at least job category data and compensation data for each of the employees; one or more computer processors in communication with the one or more data storage devices; a memory in communication with the one or more computer processors and storing program instructions, the one or more computer processors operative with the program instructions to:
calculate, based on the employee data, a workers' compensation insurance premium for the workers' compensation insurance policy issued to the employer;
calculate, based on the employee data evaluated for determining the workers' compensation insurance premium, supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums for supplemental bundled disability insurance policies, comprised of individual disability policies, for a plurality of the employees; and
output data indicative of the supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer processors are further operative with the program instructions to provide an indication that the supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums are to be paid by the employees.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more computer processors are further operative with the program instructions to receive an indication of whether one or more of the employees will purchase the supplemental bundled disability insurance policies.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums are associated with at least two of: (i) short term disability insurance, (ii) long term disability insurance, and (iii) accidental disability insurance.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer processors are further operative with the program instructions to calculate one of a single supplemental bundled disability insurance premium that applies to all of the employees or different supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums for different employees.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer processors are further operative with the program instructions to calculate the supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums based further on historical workers' compensation insurance claims associated with the employer.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more computer processors are further operative with the program instructions to determine the workers' compensation insurance premium based at least in part on historical supplemental bundled disability insurance claims associated with the employees.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the supplemental bundled disability insurance policies are portable and issued to individual ones of the employees.
9 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising an integrated benefits management platform including:
one or more integrated benefits management platform data storage devices; one or more integrated benefits management platform computer processors; an integrated benefits management platform communications device; and an integrated benefits management platform memory in communication with the one or more integrated benefits management platform computer processors and storing integrated benefits management platform program instructions, the one or more integrated benefits management platform processors operative with the integrated benefits management platform program instructions to:
receive, by the integrated benefits management platform communications device, data about a claim from a first employee;
evaluate, by the one or more integrated benefits management platform computer processors, the claim data; and
determine, by the one or more integrated benefits management platform computer processors and based on the claim data, whether the claim is associated with the employer's workers' compensation insurance policy or one or more of the first employee's supplemental bundled disability insurance policies.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the one or more integrated benefits management platform processors are further operative with the integrated benefits management platform program instructions to:
provide for presentation on a remote device a graphical user interface displaying data indicative of aggregated information including information about both workers' compensation insurance claims and supplemental bundled disability insurance claims.
11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the one or more integrated benefits management platform processors are further operative with the integrated benefits management platform program instructions to:
receive, from a remote device, data indicative of adjustments to the supplemental bundled disability insurance policies; or facilitate payment, by the remote device, of the supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums.
12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the one or more integrated benefits management platform processors are further operative with the integrated benefits management platform program instructions to:
generate, by the one or more integrated benefits management platform computer processors, data indicative of a rating associated with the employer or one or more of the employees in accordance with both workers' compensation insurance claims and supplemental bundled disability insurance claims from employees.
13 . A computer-implemented method for administering a workers' compensation insurance policy and supplemental bundled disability insurance policies, comprising:
receiving, by a communication device, employee data for employees employed by an employer, wherein the employee data includes job category data and compensation data for each of the employees; calculating, by a processor, a workers' compensation insurance premium for a workers' compensation insurance policy issued to the employer based upon the employee data; calculating, by the processor, supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums for supplemental bundled disability insurance policies, comprised of individual disability policies, for one or more of the employees based upon the employee data received for determining the workers' compensation insurance premium; and transmitting, by the communication device, indications of the workers' compensation insurance premium and supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums to a graphical user interface.
14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , further comprising:
receiving, by the communication device, information about a claim from a first employee; evaluating, by the processor, the information about the claim to determine whether the claim is associated with the employer's workers' compensation insurance policy or one or more of the first employee's supplemental bundled disability insurance policies.
15 . The computer-implemented method of claim 14 , wherein the information about the claim is received via at least one of: (i) a web interface, and (ii) a telephone call center.
16 . The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , wherein the supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums are calculated further based on historical workers' compensation insurance claims associated with the employer.
17 . The computer-implemented method of claim 13 , wherein the workers' compensation insurance premium is calculated determined further based on historical supplemental bundled disability insurance claims associated with the employees.
18 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer executable instructions, which, when executed by a computer processor, cause the computer processor to:
receive employee data associated with employees employed by an employer, wherein the employee data includes job category data and compensation data for each of the employees; calculate a workers' compensation insurance premium, for a workers' compensation insurance policy issued to the employer, based on the employee data; calculate supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums for supplemental bundled disability insurance policies, comprised of individual disability policies, for one or more of the employees, wherein the calculated supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums are calculated based at least in part on the employee data received for determining the workers' compensation insurance premium; and transmit indications of the workers' compensation insurance premium and supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums for display on a graphical user interface.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer processor to calculate the workers' compensation insurance premium based on at least two of: (i) data indicative of employee compensation, (ii) data indicative of historic workers' compensation insurance claims associated with the employer, (iii) data indicative of historic supplemental bundled disability insurance claims made by employees, (iv) data indicative of a standard industrial classification code associated with the employer, and (v) data indicative of a geographic location.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer processor to calculate the supplemental bundled disability insurance premiums based on at least two of: (i) data indicative of employee compensation, (ii) data indicative of historic workers' compensation insurance claims associated with the employer, (iii) data indicative of historic supplemental bundled disability insurance claims made by the employees, (iv) data indicative of a standard industrial classification code associated with the employer, (v) data indicative of a geographic location, (vi) data indicative of the employee ages, (vii) data indicative of the employee genders, and (viii) data indicative of the employee job categories.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
