Abstract

Methods and systems for providing a firearm sighting optic, including a body having a first lens at a first end and a second lens at a second end, and a reticle associated therewith and a level device integral to the body and providing a visual indication of a rotation of the firearm sighting optic with reference to a predetermined plane, wherein the indication is presented in association with the reticle.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A firearm sighting optic, comprising:
 a body having a first lens at a first end and a second lens at a second end, and a reticle associated therewith; and   a level device integral to the body and providing a visual indication of a rotation of the firearm sighting optic with reference to a predetermined plane, wherein the indication is presented in association with the reticle.   
     
     
         2 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 1 , wherein the level device comprises a pin configured as a plum-bob. 
     
     
         3 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 1 , wherein the level device includes an accelerometer that detects the rotation and an image generator that provides the visual indication. 
     
     
         4 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 1 , wherein the predetermined plane is the horizon. 
     
     
         5 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 1 , wherein the visual indication provides at least one of an amount of rotation or a direction of rotation. 
     
     
         6 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 1 , wherein the visual indication comprises a first color marker when the firearm sighting optic is level and a second color marker when the firearm sighting optic is not level. 
     
     
         7 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 1 , wherein the visual indication comprises a top cross hair of the reticle. 
     
     
         8 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 1 , wherein the level device is mounted to an interior wall of the body. 
     
     
         9 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 3 , wherein the predetermined plane is the horizon. 
     
     
         10 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 3  wherein the visual indication comprises a first color marker when the firearm sighting optic is level and a second color marker when the firearm sighting optic is not level. 
     
     
         11 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 3 , wherein the level device is mounted to an interior wall of the body. 
     
     
         12 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 7 , wherein the level device is mounted to an interior wall of the body. 
     
     
         13 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 2 , wherein the level device is mounted to an interior wall of the body. 
     
     
         14 . A firearm sighting optic with an integrated level, comprising:
 a body having an ocular lens at a first end and an objective lens at a second end, and a reticle disposed there between; and   a level device coupled to the body that includes a rotation sensor that detects a rotation of the firearm sighting optic with reference to a predetermined plane and an image generator that provides a visual indication of the rotation of the firearm sighting optic presented in association with the reticle.   
     
     
         15 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 14 , wherein the visual indication provides at least one of an amount of rotation or a direction of rotation. 
     
     
         16 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 14 , wherein the predetermined plane is the horizon. 
     
     
         17 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 14 , wherein the visual indication provides at least one of an amount of rotation or a direction of rotation. 
     
     
         18 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 14 , wherein the visual indication comprises a first color marker when the firearm sighting optic is level and a second color marker when the firearm sighting optic is not level. 
     
     
         19 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 14 , wherein the visual indication comprises a top cross hair of the reticle. 
     
     
         20 . The firearm sighting optic of  claim 14 , wherein the rotation sensor comprises an accelerometer.
