Abstract

A method for dyeing polyester fabric including preparing a dye solution with dye, water, a liquid carrier and an acidic agent. The dye solution is applied to the fabric in a desired pattern. The fabric and dye solution are then dried in a drier so that they reach a temperature where the carrier to enhances the permeability of the fabric and permits the dye to penetrate the fabric. The carrier is then driven out of the fabric by the dryer and no pressure is applied to the fabric during the drying process.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method of dyeing polyester fabric, the method comprising:
preparing a dye solution including water, dye particles dispersed in the water, a carrier liquid selected to enhance the permeability of polyester threads of the fabric in an acidic environment at a specific temperature, and an acidic solution to create an acidic environment in the dye solution; applying the dye solution to the fabric in a desired pattern; drying the fabric with the dye solution so that the fabric and dye solution reach the specific temperature to allow the carrier liquid to enhance the permeability of the fabric and permit the dye particles dispersed in the water to enter the polyester threads of the fabric before the carrier liquid is driven off, and when the carrier is driven off, the dye particles remain within the polyester threads of the fabric; wherein the polyester fabric is not subjected to pressure during the drying step.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising applying the dye solution to the fabric through a screen, where the dye solution is forced through the screen by a squeegee.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the fabric is a polyester fabric blended with cotton, and wherein the acidic solution is selected to burn out the cotton where the dye solution is applied to the fabric.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the drying step is performed by passing the fabric through a dryer operating at a temperature of from about 340 degrees to about 360 degrees Fahrenheit.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the carrier liquid being a phthalamine derived liquid.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the acidic solution including a thickening agent and an acid.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the acidic solution being an isoparaffinic solvent.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising washing the fabric after drying.

9 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising washing the fabric after drying and treating the fabric with a neutralizing agent.
