Method, system, and software for geographically focused network advertising

Abstract

A software based system and method of displaying location based information from an information site on a network by determining location data of a user of the location based information on the network. The location based information is generated based on the determined location data of the user; and generated location based information is provided to the user over the network.

         19 . A computer server for use with a plurality of databases, a user communication device, and a network, said computer server comprising:
 a memory; and   a processor operable to
 create an information site from the plurality of databases, 
 enable, at the information site, the setup of a region and to provide advertising information related to a subject matter, 
 receive, at the information site via the network from the user communication device, information related to the subject matter, 
 determine a geographic location of interest, 
 determine a link related to the advertising information and being based on the geographic location and the region, and 
 provide, from the information site to the user communication device, the link and content based on the subject matter.

The computer server of  claim 19 , wherein said processor is included within one of the group consisting of a personal digital assistant, a portable device, a web browser, a cell phone, a wireless phone, an electronic billboard, a website, a pager, a television, a web-based television device, an internet enabled device or appliance, a health monitoring device, a kiosk displaying information related to one or more subject areas, a terminal in a library, an Internet radio application, and a job related web site. 
     
     
         21 . The computer server of  claim 20 , wherein said processor is operable to receive the information related to a subject matter from the user communication device wirelessly. 
     
     
         22 . The computer server of  claim 21 , wherein said processor is further operable to provide the content with an additional link to additional information. 
     
     
         23 . The computer server of  claim 20 , wherein said processor is further operable to provide the content with an additional link to additional information. 
     
     
         24 . The computer server of  claim 19 , wherein said processor is operable to receive the information related to a subject matter from the user communication device wirelessly.

         27 . A method, for use with a plurality of databases, a user communication device, and a network, said method comprising:
 creating, via a processor, an information site from the plurality of databases;   setting up, at the information site, a region;   providing, at the information site, advertising information related to a subject matter;   receiving, via the processor, at the information site via the network from the user communication device, information related to the subject matter;   determining, via the processor, a geographic location of interest;   determining, via the processor, a link related to advertising information and being based on the geographic location and the region; and   providing the link and the content, via the processor and from the information site to the user communication device.

The method of  claim 27 , wherein said creating, via a processor, comprises creating via a processor that is included within one of the group consisting of a personal digital assistant, a portable device, a web browser, a cell phone, a wireless phone, an electronic billboard, a website, pager, a television, a web-based television device, an internet enabled device or appliance, a health monitoring device, a kiosk displaying, information related to one or more subject areas, a terminal in a library, an Internet radio application, and a job related web site. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein said receiving information comprises receiving the information related to a subject matter from the user communication device wirelessly. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 29 , wherein said providing content and the link comprises providing the content with an additional link to additional information. 
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 28 , wherein said providing content and the link comprises providing the content with an additional link to additional information. 
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein said receiving, information comprises receiving the information related to a subject matter from the user communication device wirelessly.

A non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media having computer-readable instructions stored thereon, for use with a plurality of databases, a user communication device, and a network, the computer-readable instructions being capable of being read by a computer and being capable of instructing the computer to perform the method comprising:
 creating, via a processor, an information site from the plurality of databases;   setting up, at the information site, a region;   providing, at the information site, advertising information related to a subject matter;   receiving, via the processor, at the information site via the network from the user communication device, information related to the subject matter;   determining, via the processor, a geographic location of interest;   determining, via the processor, a link related to advertising information and being based on the geographic location and the region; and   providing the link and the content, via the processor and from the information site to the user communication device, based on the subject matter.

The non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media of  claim 35 , wherein the computer-readable instructions are capable of instructing the computer to perform the method such that said creating, via, a processor, comprises creating via a processor that is included within one of the group consisting of a personal digital assistant, a portable device, a web browser, a cell phone, a wireless phone, an electronic billboard, a website, a pager, a television, a web-based television device, an internet enabled device or appliance, a health monitoring device, a kiosk displaying information related to one or more subject areas, a terminal in a library, an Internet radio application, and a job related web site.

The non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media of  claim 36 , wherein the computer-readable instructions are capable of instructing the computer to perform the method such that said receiving information comprises receiving the information related to a subject matter from the user communication device wirelessly.

The non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media of  claim 37 , wherein the computer-readable instructions are capable of instructing the computer to perform the method such that said providing content and the link comprises providing the content with an additional link to additional information.

         43 . A computer server for use with a plurality of databases, a user communication device, an advertiser communication device and a network, said computer server comprising:
 a memory; and   a processor operable to
 create an information site from the plurality of databases, 
 enable, at the information site, the advertiser communication device to set up a region and to provide advertising information related to a subject matter, 
 receive, at the information site via the network from the user communication device, information related to the subject matter, 
 determine a geographic location of interest, 
 determine a link related to the advertising information and being based on the geographic location and the region, and 
 provide, from the information site to the user communication device, the link and content used on the subject matter.
