Method, system, and software for geographically focused network advertising

Abstract

A software based system and method of displaying location based information from an information site on a network by determining location data of a user of the location based information on the network. The location based information is generated based on the determined location data of the user; and generated location based information is provided to the user over the network.

         21 . A computer server for use with a plurality of databases, a communication device having an associated address, and a network, said computer server comprising:
 a memory; and   a processor operable to
 create an information site from the plurality of databases, 
 receive, at the information site via the network from the communication device, information related to a subject matter, 
 determine a geographic location of the communication device based on the associated address, 
 determine a link related to advertising information and being based on the geographic information, and 
 provide the link and content, based on the subject matter, from the information site to the communication device.

The computer server of  claim 21 , wherein said processor is included within one of the group consisting of a personal digital assistant, a portable device, a web browser, a cell phone, a wireless phone, an electronic billboard, a website, a pager, a television, a web-based television device, an internet enabled device or appliance, a health monitoring device, a kiosk displaying information related to one or more subject areas, a terminal in a library, an Internet radio application, and a job related web site. 
     
     
         23 . The computer server of  claim 22 , wherein said processor is operable to receive the information related to a subject matter from the communication device wirelessly. 
     
     
         24 . The computer server of  claim 23 , wherein said processor is further operable to provide the content with an additional link to additional information. 
     
     
         25 . The computer server of  claim 21 , wherein said processor is operable to receive the information related to a subject matter from the communication device wirelessly. 
     
     
         26 . The computer server of  claim 25 , wherein said processor is further operable to provide the content with an additional link to additional information. 
     
     
         27 . The computer server of  claim 22 , wherein said processor is further operable to provide the content with an additional link to additional information.

         29 . A method, for use with a plurality of databases, a communication device having an associated address, and a network, said method comprising:
 creating, via a processor, an information site from the plurality of databases;   receiving, via the processor, at the information site via the network from the communication device, information related to a subject matter;   determining, via the processor, a geographic location of the communication device based on the associated address;   determining, via the processor, a link related to advertising information and being based on the geographic information; and   providing, via the processor, the link and content, based on the subject matter, from the information site to the communication device.

The method of  claim 29 , wherein said creating, via a processor, comprises creating via a processor that is included within one of the group consisting of a personal digital assistant, a portable device, a web browser, a cell phone, a wireless phone, an electronic billboard, a website, a pager, a television, a web-based television device, an internet enabled device or appliance, a health monitoring device, a kiosk displaying information related to one or more subject areas, a terminal in a library, an Internet radio application, and a job related web site. 
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 30 , wherein said receiving information comprises receiving the information related to a subject matter from the communication device wirelessly. 
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 31 , wherein said providing content and the link comprises providing the content with an additional link to additional information. 
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 29 , wherein said receiving information comprises receiving the information related to a subject matter from the communication device wirelessly.

A non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media having computer-readable instructions stored thereon, for use with a plurality of databases, a communication device having an associated address, and a network, the computer-readable instructions being capable of being read by a computer and being capable of instructing the computer to perform the method comprising:
 creating, via a processor, an information site from the plurality of databases;   receiving, via the processor, at the information site via the network from the communication device, information related to a subject matter;   determining, via the processor, a geographic location of the communication device based on the associated address;   determining, via the processor, a link related to advertising information and being based on the geographic information; and   providing, via the processor, the link and content, based on the subject matter, from the information site to the communication device.

The non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media of  claim 37 , wherein the computer-readable instructions are capable of instructing the computer to perform the method such that said creating, via a processor, comprises creating via a processor that is included within one of the group consisting of a personal digital assistant, a portable device, a web browser, a cell phone, a wireless phone, an electronic billboard, a website, a pager, a television, a web-based television device, an internet enabled device or appliance, a health monitoring device, a kiosk displaying information related to one or more subject areas, a terminal in a library, an Internet radio application, and a job related web site.

The non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media of  claim 38 , wherein the computer-readable instructions are capable of instructing the computer to perform the method such that said receiving information comprises receiving the information related to a subject matter from the communication device wirelessly.

The non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media of  claim 39 , wherein the computer-readable instructions are capable of instructing the computer to perform the method such that said providing content and the link comprises providing the content with an additional link to additional information.

The non-transitory, tangible, computer-readable media of  claim 37 , wherein the computer-readable instructions are capable of instructing the computer to perform the method such that said receiving information comprises receiving the information related to a subject matter from the communication device wirelessly.
