Insulated Container with Comfort Zone

Abstract

A container including a base container having a side wall that extends about a longitudinal axis to define an internal volume and an overwrap positioned over the side wall, the overwrap including a first zone circumferentially extending about the base container, the first zone including a first pattern of bosses, and a second zone circumferentially extending about the base container, the second zone including a second pattern of bosses, the second pattern of bosses being different than the first pattern of bosses.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A container comprising:
 a base container comprising a side wall that extends about a longitudinal axis to define an internal volume;   an overwrap positioned over said side wall, said overwrap comprising a texturing pattern that defines:
 a first zone circumferentially extending about said base container, said first zone comprising a first outer surface having a first average surface temperature; and 
 a second zone circumferentially extending about said base container, said second zone being visually and tactilely distinct from said first zone and comprising a second outer surface having a second average surface temperature, 
 wherein said first average surface temperature is less than said second average surface temperature when said internal volume is filled with water at a temperature of 90° C. under ambient conditions of 23° C. and 50 percent relative humidity; and 
   an adhesive extending from said base container to said overwrap.   
     
     
         2 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said first average surface temperature is at least 2° C. less than said second average surface temperature when said internal volume is filled with water at a temperature of 90° C. under ambient conditions of 23° C. and 50 percent relative humidity. 
     
     
         3 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said first average surface temperature is at least 4° C. less than said second average surface temperature when said internal volume is filled with water at a temperature of 90° C. under ambient conditions of 23° C. and 50 percent relative humidity. 
     
     
         4 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said first zone has a longitudinal length of at least about 2 inches 
     
     
         5 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said first zone has a longitudinal length ranging from about 3 to about 6 inches. 
     
     
         6 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said texturing pattern comprises debossings. 
     
     
         7 . The container of  claim 6  wherein said debossings are arranged in a first pattern within said first zone and a second pattern within said second zone, said second pattern being different from said first pattern. 
     
     
         8 . The container of  claim 6  wherein said second zone is free of said debossings. 
     
     
         9 . The container of  claim 6  wherein said texturing pattern further comprises embossings. 
     
     
         10 . The container of  claim 9  wherein said second zone comprises said embossing. 
     
     
         11 . The container of  claim 10  wherein said first zone is free of said embossings. 
     
     
         12 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said overwrap further comprises a third zone circumferentially extending about said base container, said third zone being visually and tactilely distinct from said first zone and comprising a third outer surface having a third average surface temperature, and wherein said first average surface temperature is less than said third average surface temperature when said internal volume is filled with water at a temperature of 90° C. under ambient conditions of 23° C. and 50 percent relative humidity. 
     
     
         13 . The container of  claim 12  wherein said first average surface temperature is at least 2° C. less than said third average surface temperature when said internal volume is filled with water at a temperature of 90° C. under ambient conditions of 23° C. and 50 percent relative humidity. 
     
     
         14 . The container of  claim 12  wherein said first zone is positioned between said second zone and said third zone. 
     
     
         15 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said first zone is marked with indicia, said indicia comprising a brown color. 
     
     
         16 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said adhesive comprises an organic binder and an organic filler. 
     
     
         17 . The container of  claim 1  wherein a first quantity of said adhesive is positioned in said first zone and a second quantity of said adhesive is positioned in said second zone, and wherein said first quantity is less than said second quantity. 
     
     
         18 . The container of  claim 1  wherein said side wall has a surface area, and wherein at most about 5 percent of said surface area within said comfort zone is covered with said adhesive.
