Socks for preventing creasing in footwear

Abstract

A sock which prevents creasing in footwear such as sneakers, dress shoes, and boots. The sock includes an outer layer as well as means for preventing creasing in footwear. The means for preventing creasing provides additional comfortable support to the wearer while providing support to footwear in the toe portion of footwear, thus preventing creasing. The means for preventing creasing can be located in an upper portion; a lower portion, an upper and lower portion; or in a single portion within the sock.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A sock comprising:
 an outer layer; and   means for preventing creasing of footwear.   
     
     
         2 . The sock according to  claim 1 , wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is at least one selected from the group consisting of a gel material, memory foam, foam, an inflatable cushion, a cardboard insert, a plastic insert, liquid, and a moisture wicking material. 
     
     
         3 . The sock according to  claim 1 , wherein the sock is one of an athletic sock, a casual sock, a dress sock, toe socks, stockings, pantyhose, hosiery, leggings, tights, footies, or hosiery footies. 
     
     
         4 . The sock according to  claim 1 , wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is attached to the outer layer. 
     
     
         5 . The sock according to  claim 1 , further comprising an upper portion. 
     
     
         6 . The sock according to  claim 5 , wherein the upper portion is attached to the outer layer and disposed on the instep of the sock. 
     
     
         7 . The sock according to  claim 5 , wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is disposed between the upper portion and the outer layer. 
     
     
         8 . The sock according to  claim 1 , further comprising a lower portion. 
     
     
         9 . The sock according to  claim 8 , wherein the lower portion is attached to the outer layer and disposed on the sole of the sock. 
     
     
         10 . The sock according to  claim 8 , wherein means for preventing creasing of footwear is disposed between the lower portion and the outer layer. 
     
     
         11 . A sock comprising:
 an outer layer;   an upper portion; and   means for preventing creasing of footwear;   wherein the upper portion is attached to the outer layer and disposed on the instep of the sock, and   wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is disposed between the upper portion and the outer layer.   
     
     
         12 . The sock according to  claim 11 , wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is at least one selected from the group consisting of a gel material, memory foam, foam, an inflatable cushion, a cardboard insert, a plastic insert, liquid, and a moisture wicking material. 
     
     
         13 . The sock according to  claim 11 , wherein the sock is one of an athletic sock, a casual sock, a dress sock, toe socks, stockings, pantyhose, hosiery, leggings, tights, footies, or hosiery footies. 
     
     
         14 . The sock according to  claim 11 , wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is attached to the outer layer. 
     
     
         15 . The sock according to  claim 11 , further comprising a lower portion. 
     
     
         16 . The sock according to  claim 15 , wherein the lower portion is attached to the outer layer and disposed on the sole of the sock. 
     
     
         17 . The sock according to  claim 15 , wherein means for preventing creasing of footwear is also disposed between the lower portion and the outer layer. 
     
     
         18 . The sock according to  claim 11 , further comprising a rear portion. 
     
     
         19 . The sock according to  claim 18 , wherein the rear portion is attached to the outer layer and disposed at the heal of the sock, and wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is disposed between the rear portion and the outer layer. 
     
     
         20 . A sock comprising:
 an outer layer;   means for preventing creasing of footwear; and   a single portion,   wherein the single portion is attached to the outer layer and disposed around the front of the sock, and   wherein the means for preventing creasing of footwear is disposed between the single portion and the outer layer.
